Ponder and Reflect
Advice of Hadhrat Luqmaan عليه السّلام to his son :
"Oh my son! This world is a deep ocean in which numerous people have drowned. In this ocean of the world make Taqwa your ship; Fill it with Imaan and let it's sail be Tawakkul (Trust) on Allah. Then perhaps, you may be saved from the disasters of the world. Without this, Salvation is not possible."
What lessons can we take from this profound advice of Hadhrat Luqmaan عليه السّلام?
We know that this life is filled with many trails and temptations, we were commanded to be purified through all these tests in this worldy life, so that we could meet our Sustainer on the Day of Qiyaamah.
Now to elaborate more on the above advice :
"To have Taqwa (to be God fearing) in this deep ocean of life would prevent us from openly disobeying Allah; we would become conscious of the fact that Allah is Omnipresent. This would make it easy for us to stay afloat throughout this life. Examples can be taken from the lives of the Ambiyaa, Sahaabah, or Awliyaa."
Which brings us to "Tawakkul", I cannot stress enough how important this is in life. I don't mean just uttering the words "Hasbiyallaahu wa ni'mal wa'keel" or merely saying" meaning - You are sufficient for me and the best of guardians" but saying it with the heart, believing that .."My Lord, The Most High, will help me through this difficult situation - He will grant me peace and tranquility in my heart - He is the only I should depend etc.."
Let's take another example at the most frequently mentioned prophet in the Quraan, Musa عليه السّلام. His story is such an amazing and inspirational onez that every time you read a part of it, you will always find comfort in it. Through all his difficulties, Allah was always there to assist him and that's why I would like to mention this..
When Musa عليه السّلام was feeling desperate, lost and in dispare. It was at the time when he fled from Egypt to Madyan, he saved an Israelite resulting in the death of a coptic, and sought refuge under a tree.
He sat under the tree for while, he had no home, no family and no food and at this moment Allah inspired him with this beautiful du'aa :
رَبِّ اِنُّيْ لِماَ اَنْزَلْتَ اِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيْرّ
"My Lord, Indeed I am need of any good that you will send me "
Musa عليه السّلام's du'aa was answered and all his stress, worry and anxiety was removed. Keep in mind that he didn't ask Allah for anything specific and yet he was always pleased with whatever Allah gave him, Subahaanallah! What a powerful du'aa.
So just as Musa عليه السّلام made du'aa to Allah sincerely and had firm conviction and tawakkul in Allah, at the time of any difficulty or calamity in our deep ocean of life, we should earnestly supplicate to the Only being (الْ قادِر - The one who's in control over everything), with firm conviction that He can and will definitely assist us at our time our need.
May Allah grant you tawfeeq and firm conviction in Him and May make it easy for any difficulty or hardships you are going through, May you be rewarded with 'aafiyah and khair in this world and the Hereafter for your enduring patience, آمين.
