red lip stains.

you held me gently

in your mouth

tongue curling around

the corners of my name

you whispered it softly

so low i could barely hear

but my skin felt it

vibrate along the surface

of my flesh, electric--

you've compared me to 

flowers, delicate and velvet,

but i will devour you

i will destroy 

everything in this room

i'll make you aware

of every molecule of you--

i'll leave you branded

singed with the very lips

you compared

to red roses.

the dawning of thoughts.

there were times

i turned my back to you

but i didn't know that truly

being alone is having no home

to go back to

because i've been too busy

trying to dig beneath 

my blood and bone

to find the soul 

i've been told is there--

i felt it once

vibrating every atom of my being

so violently i could not deny

the significance of my own

existence

you let me follow my wanderlust

to edges of my own universe

until it led me to my own truth

but

    but

          i realized what i really wanted

          was someone to share

          my soul with.

Follower Series

So I just finished a poem that was requested and I just wanted to put out there that I do take requests for my follower series. All I ask is that you are a follower and you understand that I'll complete the poem whenever inspiration strikes me.

dizzle who.

remember when

we were in our teens

and we tried to be bad

but the rips in our jeans

were too clean and you

swore your parents pulled

you apart at your seams 

and i never quite remembered

my dreams but your name

came quickly to mind every time

i thought of a place i wanted to be--

i wonder if we knew who

we'd grow up to be

if we'd stop trying to grow up 

so fast and spend our days

dancing until we were dizzy

and playing in the rain

instead of learning how

to kiss cigarettes

without choking.

clean slate for a blank mind.

you said you hate push up bras

because they’re liars

even if they’re supportive

and i said that sounds like you

which is bitter

and if i keep adding my two cents

i'll be poor in more ways than one

but if i ever find a wishing well

i'll wish you well for a change

and if i don't find one

i'll make bricks from my slick quips

to rebuild the bridges we burned

because spurning someone

who hurt you

feels good for a moment

then leaves you empty

for a lifetime, i've got long lifelines

and too vast a heart

leave it half full because the pull

of spite was too great.

flooding in.

you keep saying

that letting someone

inside me 

is losing

a piece of myself,

but sometimes

i glance at you

while your eyes are closed

and you are busy

breathing in the salt

of my sweat

and you listen

to the scratch of my fingertips

down your spine

and you press your mouth

to mine but you neither

move you lips or move away

like all you ever really wanted

was to keep anything else 

from ever getting in

and think

maybe it is you

who is lost

in me.

we said no to the drugs 

but yes to the meds

we discovered that a poison

can change with a name

and a dosage

we swallowed bottles

with the hopes

all our problems would be fixed

but we couldn't fight the feeling

that our problems

would be the one thing

we missed.
