i’m having a hard time falling asleep because of body pain so i’m gonna dump kappa headcanons because Why Not:
-nonverbal for several reasons, but mostly because it’s hard for him to talk. it’s why he speaks bluntly and in partially broken english.
-he can leave his lake and go to the farm and in town if he desires, but he never has a reason to go and is lowkey scared the humans would chase him off. he can be outside of his lake only for so long though, the longest is two days.
-i lowkey headcanon him as autistic tbh, he’s very much a homebody, seems very picky about food (he only accepts cucumbers as a gift) and is mostly nonverbal. tbh i’m probably just seeing a lot of myself in him, but still.
-magic-wise he’s just as strong as the harvest goddess, but isn’t very inclined to abuse said power. he just wants a peaceful life. the harvest goddess is most likely his only friend since he never lets anyone else get close enough to him.
-the first time i met him was honestly a mistake on his part, he was just really excited to see his favorite food in the water and didn’t piece together that someone might’ve accidentally dropped it. he was very mortified that a human saw him after so many years of carefully avoiding humans.
-i’m thinking he probably had his heart broken by a human a very long time ago and that’s why it takes so long to romance him. he’s the kind of person to take a very, very long time to trust someone because being emotionally vulnerable is fucking SCARY, especially when you’ve done this song and dance before and got your heart wrecked.
-if he likes you enough, he’ll start giving you pretty rocks and trinkets he’s found in his lake and will sneak onto your farm when you’re asleep to make sure your soil is damp enough for your crops. those days you love when it rains constantly and you have a shitty watering can? that’s kappa working his magic.
