Comic font recommendations! I have kep this in my files for months as a sort of reference board file I kept coming back to, to keep good comics fonts in mind and now I am sharing it here ^^ You can find the full size images and the original test files for free on my Patreon + links to the fonts used. It's a rather simple setup, but quite a few of my friends liked it so I thought I would share it. I always test if the fonts I use have the estonian letters ÖÄÜÕ, so I won't have to re-letter a comic later on and this sort of setup is something I've been working out over various test files over the years (I used to have a Word doc of these)

A font I have been using for a long time and which has been a staple in the webcomics and small print original comics I read is "Ames" by Purastik OY. It's very good for any kind of comics lettering, but especially if you want moving ligatures (OTF) and many international letters in one work. Most of these other fonts are from Sara Linsley, a professional letterer, I appreciate her fonts a lot because they feel perfect for any sort of original comics and manga-like lettering. There’s also “Obscurient” by Aidan Clarke, which looks great and a few by GGBotNet which I like. But I also included as reference point "Comic Sans", my old childhood favourite, and good to use for easier reading.

hi folks, i found a pretty informative explainer on all the fonts that instagram uses from a 2025 post from picsart!

sharing this in case anybody finds it helpful :) and if i remember to do so, then i will try to track down all of the fonts that instagram uses for the general ui as well as their default font options for stories at the time of writing — and put them in a .zip file so you can access all of the font at the same time!

this may be helpful if you're a roleplayer, a template maker, or a graphic editor looking forward to recreate the ui of instagram a bit more accurately <3
