@fontcroire ( Mrs. S. ) // the plotted angst
SHE HEARS THE SHOT but doesn’t feel it, barely has time to register what’s happening before she begins to feel weak, lightheaded, then the world is spinning around her, suddenly the sky is where the buildings had been a moment earlier. It takes a moment of confusion for Minerva to realise she’s lying on the ground. She hears screaming around her, but can barely make out any words, the sound seems so far away.
She feels a slight tingling in her side --- not painful, just... odd. Her hands come away bloody. It doesn’t take much thought to realise what’s happened. She feels cold. Is she in shock, or dying? She isn’t sure, but quickly concludes it must be the latter. The crowd gathering around fades from her vision, replaced simply by... light. Warmth. She sees Tom and Zak standing before her, the light seems to be centred around them. She blinks several times. Wings? That doesn’t seem right. But she doesn’t have time to question it now.
Everything seems to be fading around her, and in that one moment she realises there’s only one person she wants to see. Mrs S. She’s not there. All Minerva wants in that moment is a chance to say goodbye. Her eyes feel damp. Is she crying? She’s not sure. The realisation has hit her hard enough to take her breath away. She tries to focus her gaze, looking up at Zak --- he’s always seemed the more observant of the two. He’ll know what she means. He has to. “Tell her... tell her I love her,” she manages to whisper. “Please.” And with that, everything goes black.
It’s a few days later when Minerva begins to wake. She feels groggy, but also oddly like she’s floating, and everything’s a blur. Her eyelids flutter slowly and she blinks a few times before managing to keep them open, her gaze fixing upon Mrs S. A smile slowly lights up Minerva’s features at the sight of her. “Hi,” she murmurs quietly. She hadn’t expected to see her again. Her brow furrows, confused, thinking. “Am I dead?”
