Oreo lovin’ by @novice_calligrapher! 😋 ・・・ "Love what you do and do what you love." Easier said than done but key of all our happiness. . This week's #goodtypetuesday challenge brought by @goodtype and @caseyligon is to letter the phrase "Love what you do" with things you love. . Although I love a lot of things but my love for biscuits and cookies is boundless especially for Oreos 🤤🤤 And hence I tried to write the phrase with crushed Oreos. And I must say that after this project my respect for food letterers and tactile lettering artists has reached another level. So much patience and self control (from eating those cookies) is required in the process. It took me 3 hours to letter this even when all the ingredients and design was ready. . Was inspired to do food lettering by @adehogue 's recent stories of tactile lettering at @letter_west . You do an amazing job Are. Hats off to you. . . . #goodtype #goodtypexlovewhatyoudo #foodlettering #tactilelettering #foodtype #foodstagram #foodtypography #strengthinletters #typography #typographydaily #dailytype #letteringquotes #handlettered #lefthandedcalligrapher #oreocookies #typographydesign #modernlettering #handlettering #letteringart #typetopia #typematters #typism #tyxca #foodporn #typographyinspired https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzbrea6p02I/?igshid=pglul6p6yfgp

Here are a few photographs documenting my process while I was creating the physical poster (before any computer editing etc.)
I started off by dusting flour onto a black card and then using a very fine paintbrush to essentially carve out the letterforms that I wanted into the flour.
I then placed my two main ingredients over the two key words of my question, brown rice (which had to be placed on with tweezers) over the word ‘inspires’ and then red lentils over the word ‘fuels’, which is the central focal point.
The last touches were going over the lettering again with a paintbrush to clear any excess flour and then refining each word to get rid of any excess grains.
I experimented with photographs and had to experiment as I went since my black cardboard was not exactly A3. I needed to photograph it at a decent scale so that I could then crop and shape it back into an A3 poster size.
I played with lighting indoors and outdoors and opted for outdoors in the end because I much preferred the natural light. Once I uploaded my first batch of photos I soon realised that something was missing so I re-shot a bunch of photos and added some props for context, balance (of space and colour) and visual appeal.
The final image here is the final photograph before anything has been edited (apart from upping the light)
