Taste Authentic Chinese Chicken at Sincerity Restaurant!
If you're planning for a food trip in the oldest Chinatown in the world(Binondo), surely Sincerity Restaurant will be included to your list. Sincerity Restaurant is known to serve the best fried chicken in Binondo. So when we went there during lunch time, it is no wonder that the place is jam packed with hungry customers.
How To Get There
From Cubao, ride an LRT train to Recto Station. Ride a jeep with Divisoria on its destination plate. We got off at Abad Santos then we rode an e-trike off to Chinatown. Then we alighted at Minor Basilica of St. Lorenzo Ruiz. From there, walk towards Ongpin Street. When you see Cafe Mezzanine, turn right. Just continue walking til you find Sincerity Restaurant. It is located at the right side near some office products shops.
While we were enjoying our Samgyeopsal last January, we came across this idea of what we wanted to do the whole year round. I welcome you guys to a new Blog Series: the 12 months, 12 cuisines challenge! Every month, we'll be trying one different cuisine. That way, we will be able to explore all possible food choices Metro Manila has to offer. Or if possible, just around Marikina(my hometown) and Quezon City(his).
For the month of February, and to celebrate our 3rd Valentine's Day together, Chad and I headed to UP Town Center to have a piece of Mexican taste. Well basically it's a Fil-Mex Restaurant. This is not our first time in UTC. Before, I always see Silantro with big groups of people waiting outside. In my mind, I was curious what could be making the commotion, until my sister told me that they offer both high quality and quantity of food at a very affordable price. Who wouldn't want that? With those 3 in a restaurant, even I would be willing to wait outside to try it out.
(c) WhenInManila. Chad and I were never the “sosyal” couple. You’ll classify us as foodies but we never really fancy super classy expensive dishes. But since it’s our second anniversary, we tried something new just for experience - eat at a fine dining restaurant - or just try a very formal dinner date. We didn’t want to spend too much so we researched on some of the romantic restaurants near us. I’ve searched a lot ‘til I came across a blog featuring Ninyo Fusion Cuisine. I found the place to be very homey and romantic at the same time. It is also very convenient for us since it’s just in Katipunan.
Just so you’ll know what to expect, this is a first timer’s story so we’re really ignorants with this stuff. *laughs*
(c) Joyce Delos Reyes. My impression towards fine dining restaurants is this: they provide a beautiful, relaxing ambiance but serve little servings while charging their customers expensively. And that’s the reason why I never wanted to try them out in the first place. I was so scared of putting my money to waste. But Ninyo Fusion Cuisine is very different. They changed my perception about romantic formal dining restaurants.
When we arrived at the place, I really fell in love with it. There were small gazebos with romantic settings. A table surrounded with heart-shaped scattered rose petals were setup. That’s where we’re supposed to dine but we were an hour late so we just decided to dine inside their restaurant.
The restaurant is kind of small but very cute. I also like the setup of our table. Not very intimidating. I was expecting so many spoons and forks on the sides of my plate but thank goodness that’s not what I saw. I would have panicked if that’s the case.
Food
When it comes to their food, I must say, my impression did not last. Yes they were expensive. But worth it.
Trio of Oysters(P450). The dish was composed of oysters cooked in three ways hence the name. Those are Fusion Rockefeller(my bet among the three), baked oyster(the least that I liked), and Wasabi Fried Oyster(not really spicy).
Among the three, I liked the taste of Fusion Rockefeller the most because of so much love for cheese. The Red Lumpfish Caviar on top of the Fusion Rockefeller tasted like bacon bits. On the otherhand, I didn’t like Baked Oyster because I can’t really describe how it tasted. It’s very fluid and I’m tasting something raw.
Grilled Chicken Balsamic Teriyaki(P450). Since it’s our first time at Ninyo. I know nothing would go wrong if we’d choose chicken so we ordered a dish with chicken in it. And I guess we chose well because it tasted great! The teriyaki sauce is not that sour and not to sweet also. It is served with grilled Japanese rice. The serving is also enough for us.
Pasta Cream Pesto(P420). This is definitely one of the best pastas I’ve ever tasted. Served with chicken strips, the dish is very kid-friendly. The cream is also thick and the chicken is nicely spiced and seasoned.
At first, I thought that the serving is small but as I was digging it, I find myself getting fuller by the minute. I was almost not able to finish it. The proportion of the chicken strips to the pasta is just enough for me.
Our Experience
We had a really fun first time experience. We kept laughing because we really don’t know what to expect at first. We didn’t even know how to separate garnish from those that should be eaten that I was really laughing inside my head!
Just to show something that literally had us surprised is this dish. I don’t even know if this is a dish because we did not order it hahaha!. They called this the Palette Cleanser. Well it lived up to its name. It really had our palette’s cleansed in time for the entree. I was literally laughing when the waiter served this because Chad was curious if we should eat the leaf hahaha! But the waiter told us not to so we didn’t. So yeah, for the first timers like us, you’ll be expecting this. :)))
The waiters and front desk are also very accommodating. The service was great. Service time between meals is about 5 minutes. We would love to try their desserts but we were already satisfied with what we ordered so I guess we’ll just have to go back to try their dessert and the romantic gazebo hihi.
We ended our dinner with a vow to be together always by locking our hearts with this love lock hihi. This is offered for Ninyo customers. They have an area near the entrance full of love locks. I'm not aware though how much it costs since it was Chad's idea.
Ending this post with our happy faces. Happy 2nd anniversary love! *hugs and kisses*
