We’re sort of getting a late start. My spouse, who usually gets things like onions and peas planted before April 1, is not paying as much attention to gardening this year for various reasons. I just did the first planting this week: carrots, spinach, chard, and turnips.
The perennials are all doing nicely. I’m trying to turn the raspberry patch from a jungle into some islands of bushes with paths in between. My Facebook friends are probably getting tired to reading “Who wants to come dig up my excess raspberry, strawberry, and rhubarb plants?” but a bunch of people have actually done so, and I’ve gotten one amazing rhubarb pie and a promise of tomato seedlings in return.
Cherry, apple, and pear trees are all blooming right now and it’s gorgeous. That reminds me, I still have some unpitted cherries in the freezer and I have to figure out the best way to deal with them.
I’m off to buy more seeds this afternoon. It’s raining all day, so I’ll have to wait to plant them.
