Fountain, Broadway Mall, Tacoma, 2014.
The fountain is a remnant, in design at least, of the 1970s attempt to convert Tacoma's once premier shopping street into a pedestrian mall. As earlier photos I have posted illustrate, it was not a success, and Broadway now is all but devoid of stores other than a few selling coffee and lunch to workers in nearby office buildings.
