How to fix a frozen screen kindle touch 2014
For google as i couldn’t find anything online and amazon warranty lasts 1 year only. You can trade it in for a small rebate on a new one but some people have a strong attachment to their reading device and no mobile app can compare and don’t want to shell out for something that should still be working.
The advice about powering up your device to full can work for some, the advice about waiting for the battery to drain can take forever: my sister’s screensaver had consumed 1% of battery power after three months of being on. The power button didn’t do a thing no matter how long you held it (5, 10, 25 seconds, a minute!)
so here’s what I did
use pry tools or a butter knife to remove the back,
unscrew the battery (the white block), lift it out and put it back in
that might work, it does at least restart the device but might not solve your initial problem, if not:
Unscrew the 3 tiny screws on either side holding the front part on and use pry tools to remove the front part (it is glued on so it’ll take a little more time)
Pull out the core part of the kindle from it’s casing
Maybe blow on it just in case there’s dust (who knows, i’m a super nintendo gal so blowing on electronics just in case is a habit)
Reassemble, screw it all in tight, you’ll need to pinch with one hand and screw with the other
The back needs to slotted in upwards and sort of bent to slot into the top sides, you’ll probably do this part five times, you’ll have to use force you wouldn’t want to use on electronics but do it anyway.
Somehow it works again! Don’t ask me how
On a side note, while I don’t like how amazon customer service handle broken kindle repair, I do appreciate that the kindle itself was designed in a way that allows it to be *somewhat* taken apart, all the screws are small phillips x type and the battery isn’t glued or soldered in any way.
