Maddie/Eddie | ~2500 words | Explicit | Ep 2x06: Dosed | Just a Couple of Lonely People New to LA Healing Through Sex | Pre Buddie & Madney For @exhausteddiaz, who gets more "Exterior Eddie" next time. Hopefully this only hit 2-3 items on the list! 😈
The furniture building turns into Eddie on the floor with a beer next to his knee and Maddie leaning back against the counter with her wine glass handing him tools. To Maddie, furniture instructions invariably read like Enigma code, but Eddie must have an engineering brain because soon enough, they’re working together to lift the butcher block counter onto the base.
“Yeah!” Maddie sets down her wine glass long enough to clap. She’s a little dizzy when she does, reminding her that she killed the whole bottle. A few of Eddie’s own dead soldiers, some colorfully-labeled IPA Evan brought, now line up next to the sink. Furniture construction is thirsty work.
“Not so fast,” Eddie teases. He walks all the way around the island, inspecting their—mostly his—accomplishment. He has to brush past Maddie in his circuit, and she steadies herself on his bare bicep. He’d shed his flannel at some point and is only in a t-shirt. She’s always surprised how warm-blooded men are. He turns to glance at her when they make skin to skin contact, but the expression on his face is unreadable.
Next, he presses both palms down on the island top and lifts himself, giving it his full weight. Unlike Maddie’s own experience building furniture, the piece doesn’t creak or even give an inch.
“Now it’s time for the final test,” Eddie tells her with a look that isn’t quite a smile. He’s drunk, too, she realizes suddenly. Maybe she should be scared with an inebriated near-stranger in her house, but she finds herself anticipating what the final test will be.
“Don’t tell me you’re making me cook at…” She looks at the microwave clock. “Oh my god, it’s already after ten!”
“I wouldn’t do that,” he laughs, and she realizes that she trusts him.
He pats the new island. “Hop up.”
Maddie takes a step back. “No way! I’m way too heavy.”
“Women are always saying that,” Eddie scoffs. “You look like a bird to me. Besides, do you really think I’d ask if I thought you were going to fall?”
Maddie bites her lip. “Do you really think I’m going to spend a lot of time sitting on my kitchen island?”
Eddie doesn’t miss a beat. “If some guy gets really lucky.” Read on ao3
