Okay this might be kind of silly but maybe a small snippet of a Dean/Cas LOTR au? Like maybe one is an elf or a ranger or a wizard or whatever and they cross paths? It's not smut sorry but I just had to nerd out for a moment -,-
((idk what happened.))
Castiel raises his head, both eyebrows raised and his mouthset in a thin, pinched line as the man finally shows himself. The man is lighton his feet, for a human, but Castiel senses his footsteps like a physical blowagainst his chest, crushing the grass and leaves beneath his feet.
"Took you long enough to catch up," he says with asmall huff of breath through his nose.
The man – Dean, the trees whisper his name – grins at him, one corner of his mouth higher thanthe other, his eyes the same green as an open field in springtime. The trees, glowing as they are with the light they keep from the moon and radiant undertheir heavy boughs, cast his skin in a white pallor that mimics lilies andsnowfall.
"You weren't playing fair," Dean replies, shouldering his heavy bow higher so that it rests at a wider angle across hisback. It is an old bow, tipped with iron that shines in the light that thetrees are giving off.
Castiel rolls his eyes, the blue in them flashing almostsilver, as he reaches up and pushes his hood off his head to hang heavy aroundhis neck. His hair is flattened and damp with dew as he runs his fingersthrough it and shakes the cloak to a more comfortable position on his back.
"I wasn't aware there were rules to this game."
"Unspoken ones, maybe," Dean says, steppingcloser, careful not to tread on the delicate flowers growing up along thenarrow path. There is only a short distance separating him and Castiel, but thecreature doesn't move and so Dean cannot pass. "But I didn't catchyou," he says, voice laced with disappointment, "so I didn'twin."
Castiel nods, lifting his chin in a defiant, triumphantgesture. "No," he says, smiling, before he turns to face Dean and sothat they are looking at each other straight-on, blocking each other's way."But I like you, Ranger, even though you make so much noise. So I won'tsay you lost, either."
Dean grins at him again. "What does not-losing getme?" he asks, his voice teasing and soft like a summer breeze on Castiel'scheeks. The trees laugh with him, their leaves shaking with mirth high abovethe pair.
Castiel's eyes brighten with joy and he moves forward, faster than Dean's human gaze can see, until he is very close to the ranger.Dean bites his lower lip as Castiel cups his cheeks and pulls him down so thathe can rest his lips against Dean's forehead.
Dean sighs, his eyes closed when Castiel pulls away, and hesmiles again. The elf's grace is soothing to his weary bones and distressedlungs.
"Rest here," Castiel says, "and continue onyour journey tomorrow. Until our paths cross again, Dean." And then heturns and runs off the safety of the path and into his forest, disappearingfrom Dean's sight within moments, and Dean sighs again. With Castiel's blessinghe can stray off the path a little, and the trees will keep him safe from theweather, and the dangerous animals won't come too close. He shrugs his bow offover his shoulders and makes a comfortable place for himself in the roots of anold, glistening tree, and settles down to sleep.
