Fish are soo underappreciated as pets. I adored my beta Hugo. I was devastated to lose him :( I still have all my aquarium stuff but I just don't know when I'll get another, if ever. Just because I travel so much now. Oh sad day.

I agree!! I've loved them since I was a kid, and as I've grown and learned more about it, it really amazes me how misunderstood it is. Bettas, for example, are often sold as being able to live in those tiny 1/2 gallon things with very spare water changes and no heater. But the truth is, while bettas can survive in those conditions, they CANNOT thrive in them. They need a minimum of 1 gals (2+ is better!) and because they're tropical fish, THEY NEED A HEATER. There are so many misconceptions about the poor things. :( Bettas have great personalities though, as long as they're not fighting each other. ;) They really are my favorite fish, though I can't wait for my 10 gallon to finish cycling so I can put tetras and platies in there. ;)
