So the next two Gerald R. Ford Class aircraft carriers will be named USS WILLIAM J. CLINTON (CVN-82) and USS GEORGE W. BUSH (CVN-83) was announced by President Biden.

Honestly, it's disappointing to see yet another carrier named after a politician. I was hoping for another Lexington, Saratoga, Midway or something other than a president or politician but I guess that's what we're left with these days.

The next Columbia class submarine will be named USS GROTON (SSBN-828), bucking the trend for ballistic missile submarines named after states or districts.

Instead, the name Intrepid is going to a Flight III Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer (DDG-145).

“NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Oct. 29, 2019) The aircraft carrier Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) John F. Kennedy (CVN-79) reaches another construction milestone, Oct. 29, 2019, as its dry dock area is flooded three months ahead of its slated production schedule leading up to the christening of the second Ford-class aircraft carrier, scheduled for Dec. 7, 2019. The flooding of the dry dock follows other milestones, including the laying of the ship’s keel on Aug. 22, 2015, the placement of the 588-metric ton island superstructure on May 29, 2019, and the arrival of the crew on Oct. 1, 2019. USS GERALD R. FORD (CVN-78) and USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN-75) underway in the Atlantic Ocean on June 4, 2020, "marking the first time a Gerald R. Ford-class and a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier operated together underway. GERALD R. FORD is underway conducting integrated air wing operations, and the HARRY S.
