Ewa Aulin

Ewa Aulin (13 Feb. 1950-): Swedish beauty queen (Miss Teen Sweden 1965) and actress -- best known as the titular character Candy [Christian] in the 1968 cult film Candy; based upon a Terry Southern novel -- which itself is drawn from the work of Voltaire, Candide! Ms. Aulin co-starred in Italian films, such as the thriller Death Laid An Egg (1968), alongside Gina Lollobrigida -- only to retire from acting in 1973, raising a family and earning a teaching certification! Returning for a supporting role in Stella's Favor (1996), to retire again.

Ewa Aulin (13 Feb. 1950-) Swedish actress who retired within six years of her lead casting as the titular character Candy Christian in the modern reimagined Voltaire tale of Candide -- a story of a naive and optimistic innocent in a greedy, cynical world. Ms. Aulin -- with her fresh natural beauty and sweet wide-eyed appearance was wisely cast to play the gender switched role in Terry Southern's screenplay (with Buck Henry); based upon the 1958 novel, Candy (itself based upon Voltaire's Candide) written, under a pseudonym, by Terry Southern with Mason Hoffenberg.

Senta Berger; Austrian-German actress (film and television), producer and German Film Academy President. Seen here as Filli, a beautiful cave woman in When Women Had Tails (1970); although Ms. Berger has won awards and critical acclaim throughout her career as a producer and actress -- it seems this film went unrecognized, by various award committees and critics, for it's fantasy/comedy prehistoric theme and plot. Ms. Berger, as Filli, must convince a caveman that there's a place for romantic pursuits and relationships -- which don't involve bashing a love interest over the head with a club!

Ingrid Pitt

Ingrid Pitt (1937-2010) Polish born actress and known as The Queen of Gothic Horror! Ms. Pitt developed a loyal fan base with her work in such Hammer Films/Amicus Productions as: The Vampire Lovers (1970), Countess Dracula (1971) and The House That Dripped Blood (1971, episode: The Cloak). Ms. Pitt had memorable performances in Where Eagles Dare (1968) and The Wicker Man (1973), in supporting roles that were elevated by her vibrant personality and sensuality. However, it's in British horror films, as a seductive vampire beauty, that Ms. Pitt will always be fondly remembered. It's the irony of life that a person born into the real nightmare of a totalitarian regime (Hitler's Third Reich) was perfectly capable in giving on-screen performances in horror cinema that won Ingrid Pitt the title of The Queen of Gothic Horror!
