The American Postal Address Problem
It's been 2 years and from the very first days I realized that I would need a postal address in the USA.
For one, it's near impossible for Americans to send things to you correctly. Either they don't understand how the addresses work or they don't declare things properly and you end up paying 20 euros to receive a package containing a gift that was purchased for you for 10 euros plus shipping.
So, I hunted for a solution and landed on US Global Mail. They scan your packages / letters / whatever so that you can decide whether or not to have it thrown away, leave it in the queue for other items to arrive, or have it shipped to you. Their service has been nice and everything has gone according to plan.
Recently, I learned about http://www.virtualpostmail.com/ and I think that they have some interesting features like depositing checks for you in your American bank.
This is how I deal with the problem. I would be happy to hear from anyone who has suggestions.
