On being a foreigner part 1

Problems:

Not being able to figure out the shower, because its weird and all the labels are in Portuguese, resulting in a week of freezing cold showers, but thinking that must be normal

Trying to be semi flirty with the cute front desk guy, but failing miserably because you speak severely broken Portuguese and he's not speaking any English

Having the price in stores go up the moment you walk in because you are so obviously pegged as a foreigner

Postives:

That first time you actually communicate well in Portuguese on your own, and mentally do a little happy dance

Being called beautiful by said front desk guy, because apparently being American is cool and exotic

Everything pretty cheap because the American dollar is up
