I dunno how far into the series you are, whether you marathoned it or not, so spoilers under the readmore I guess? though i usually don't censor spoilers for this series since it's going on two years and we've started losing hope of it getting a surge of popularity...
Megane Mania was a free fanbook made for Comic City in Japan that was posted by the artist on their pixiv in full (since hey, it was free). Part of Megane Mania 1 featured a story involving Yukiya that had the idea that, in a roundabout way, HE was the one to cause Hikaru's blindness as kids-- Yukiya was jealous of the attention Hikaru was getting from Akira and gave him the silent treatment. While trying to get Yukiya to talk to him, Hikaru walks into the street and gets hit by a car, and as a result, ends up blind.
It broke the fandom for a while, and could possibly have helped to fuel the "sadocalypse," the fandom's tendency to make sad, painful headcanons and story ideas. Though I think the series ending was enough fuel for that fire for a lifetime...
Sadly it looks like this part of the Megane Mania fanbook has been removed from Pixiv because I can't find it again... you can see the Student Council centric ones here, though:
