I have never binge watch any actors works as many as this guy here and I myself don’t know why.
Before this Ren Jialun was one of those actors I tend to avoid his works. First, his stylings was one of the worst and unappealing. Second, he don’t give me a good first visual impression. I don’t understand what’s good about him.
I recalled a moment (around 2022-2023) I tapped into “Thousands Years for you” in iqiyi app. Five minutes in, and I instantly exited the drama. I thought xianxia meet republican era sounds intriguing but once I saw his face, I was instantly turned off. Nothing personal but I guessed something about his frown that annoys me.
A month ago, I randomly clicked into “Burning Flames” and surprisingly finished the whole show. Not because of him. But the storyline was good enough to keep me occupied.
Honestly, in that show, there so many things I got so annoyed about him and his character. For first time, I don’t feel satisfied at all. It frustrated me so much. People say he’s good and have good crying scenes but in that show, he just so off. Everything about his character was not working out. And I don’t see his tears falling down. I was like, “okay. How can I justify this? I don’t want to criticise further.”
That’s how I ended up watching One And Only.
Which made me go through a 360 degree of confusion, did I just watch the same guy? Did I just watch the same freaking guy??
Then I proceed to watch Forever And Ever. His real voice is so airy. It does not help that it reminded me of his lines delivery in Burning Flames. It’s bugging me but not to the extend of forcing me to give up the show. However, he managed to show well his understanding of his own character.
Then, just recently finished Miss Crow with Mr Lizard. Gosh, his lines delivery was the SAME as in Forever And Ever. WEIRDLY, I got past that easier than previous and focus on the storyline and the chemistry. After one and only, I gradually began to appreciate his visuals and his smiles somehow looks nice too.
I don’t know how to describe this. Until now, no words. I even plan to watch Under the Power, and probably resume Blue Whisper. Or perhaps that old drama with Yang Zi.
His choice of scripts are interesting too. A mechanical heart, merman, chemistry professor. He’s one of those actors that don’t shy from doing something different which is commendable.
He’s not a bad actor but he needs to improve in certain areas such as intonation and his lines dubbing. Because I could see he’s capable of making more than one expressions(lol), he’s good with super micro expressions (not only both Zhousheng Chen’s but Gu Chuan too), delivering lines are also part of acting. If one can spend so much time trying to express through their faces, they should do so with their voices.
What are the things I would change in #ForeverAndEver #一生一世
No need Zhousheng Chen’s complicated family
Change his name to Zhou Shengchen instead of his former name. The past Zhousheng Chen is without any heir or family.
Show more about his inner character. Since I don’t read the book and based on both dramas. The inner beauty of past and present Zhousheng Chen, that shiyi loves.
Honestly, for Mei Xing, his storyline was acceptable. But I feel the other CPs that didn’t end up together, the show should delve into their happy endings too.
Without the historical things surrounding Zhousheng Chen, him being a smart kid with high IQ, know about historical facts and about the past Zhousheng Chen.
If Mei Xing was Liu Zixing’s reincarnation, who is Wenchuan then? I feel his character here wasn’t needed and this drama is perfect show for healing from One And Only’s tragedy.
Since he died of injustice in the past, Zhou Shengchen, as a professor, now, perhaps can make his country proud due to his contributions.
Somehow I wish to rewrite #ForeverAndEver #一生一世 story leading to their happy ending. Saw that many people felt the modern Zhousheng Chen is not the same as ancient one.
Me having watched the drama, somehow felt fine but I felt it was overdone? Their relationship in the modern world should make up all the regrets of the past. So this time, it should be smooth and they can take their time to fall in love.
Modern Zhousheng Chen doesn’t need a complicated family. Was it something he need in this lifetime? Was it something he desire in the past? Ancient Zhousheng Chen is very complicated. I just wish his life now is much simpler but writer chose to add this instead.
Even without the reincarnation theme in the drama, it need to make us believe why modern Shiyi recognised him, not just with same name. She recognised his beautiful bone, his inner beauty. How can someone recognise someone else’s inner beauty without knowing that person?
Forget the drama, the book actually described modern Zhousheng Chen as different from his past looks and plain looking.
And Zhousheng Chen was never married nor have kids, how he was part of the modern Zhousheng Chen’s ancestors? I bet his relatives all were killed and none was spared. Plot hole here.
I have issues with Forever And Ever (didn’t read the book because I can’t stand that here it’s much a slower than One And Only) but all they need is their happy ending AND of course the supporting characters whom ended tragically, getting their happy endings in here too.
"Forever and ever, my Diamond Leader love."
So ferocious, so delicious, LOVE Ricky 🖤 https://m.facebook.com/meltyfr/videos/ricky-gervais-aux-golden-globes-2020/2468273470154625/ #enjoy #everythingeverywhereallatonce #michelleyeoh #somethingsomewhereinaall #foreverandever #rickygervais https://www.instagram.com/p/Cpv8wseIT8l/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
