Finally it was his long weekend again. Part of him wanted to stay home, watch too much TV, and sleep, but he knew Petal would not allow that. Now here he was driving to where she lived to do whatever she wanted. It wasn't like he didn't want to, truthfully he always enjoyed hanging out with her, but he never knew where they would end up.

The brakes of his old truck squeaked a little as he stopped in front of Petal’s place. He sent her quick “Here” text, and quickly changed the playlist he was listening to, to something more appropriate for her ears. He shifted back in his seat a bit as he set his phone down, looking back towards the door to see her coming out.

━ ━  ❝Don’t cut to the chase, you!❞ He chuckles as if it’s adorable to even suggest that, but the knife is already placed firmly in his palm.  ❝I prefer it slow... slow as one can go. Gives it a real chance for connection, yeah? Real connection and understanding.❞ He never knew what he was up against. He never cared.

Softly, she coaxes him awake with the sound of her voice, though it’s the mention of a nightmare that forces him to blink the sleep away. Athelstan knows the dreadful feeling. Nightmares are all too prevalent. How many times has he endured the worst of them, even though he wears his cross every night to ward them away? Sometimes, not even that is enough. He turns to look at her through the dark of the room, shifting on the bed so that he may gather her close. That is, if she’ll allow it.  “Come here,” he gently orders, extending an arm for her to rest her head on. Perhaps an embrace won’t be enough to do away with the awful nightmares, but Athelstan sure can try when she’s obviously going through a lot. Through something. There’s no remedy that’s strong enough to make it better. He can only hope that holding her will provide some comfort. However temporary that may be. “Do you want to talk about it?”

"Have you ever seen a sea monster before? I've heard they are such large beasts - bigger than giants! Could you imagine one being bigger than a giant? I don't know what I would do if I met a sea monter. Probably I will run away and hide. What would you do if you met one? Would you be afraid?" // to rollo from petal 

He’s been across the ocean many times, even gone fishing in the rivers around his home, and yet he’s never encountered a single sea monster. Rollo, however, counted himself as one of the lucky men who didn’t have the foul opportunity to run into one. Then again they had their own stories, heard people who had met some strange creatures. So in response to her question, the berserker shakes his head before shrugging. “No, I haven’t. But I don’t think I would be scared.” He’s seen death, killed many humans and creatures in his life. All of it was done to survive and encountering a sea monster would be no different. “I’d fight like I always do. If you are at sea and want to live to see the next day or go to Valhalla then you fight. It’s the only thing I am good at and I do it well. You will not see me run away.”

He hesitates, studying her expression and wondering what gave her that idea. Possibly his stature. Or could it be the sword at his hip? Perhaps it is the slaughter of men. Reputation of his kind has reached further corners than these. He advances towards her, slowly and with precision, hands at his sides instead of resting on the hilt of his sword. “Now,” he begins, amused. “why shouldn’t I?”

       Egbert’s place was definitely nothing like a Jarl’s or even a Northman King’s place. No. He had a whole castle dedicated to him, his family, his servants, his guards... and many others Lagertha couldn’t quite keep in mind. His life looked so easy with all these people taking care of every wish - though she didn’t recall seeing him fight or hold a sword. At least she could compare Ragnar and Egbert on that field, and... Ragnar would always win. 

A woman appeared at her door, no one she recalled meeting before, but who knew, they were so many anyway. She delivered the words with that perfect english accent, instantly Lagertha’s cheeks blushed at the compliment. She chuckled lightly,     “ Thank you, that is very nice of you.”     The shieldmaiden stood, unfolded the new attire she started to get used to,      “ What is your name ? Do you need anything ? ”
