it is...very hard not to feel as though some fundamental part of me is missing, somehow. yeah it's irrational but the guy i liked has a girlfriend, which happens every time - that or i'll finally pluck up the courage to ask someone out & they say no thanks or sorry, only interested in hooking up. my entire circle of friends here is in a relationship w someone; everyone i've met so far is dating; i see couples at the gym, couples on the street, couples in the library, couples on dates in the coffee shops where i study. i have been in one relationship. one. and it was a mess. i got nothing out of it except an understanding of what i didn't want in a relationship. and ok yeah on some level i think dating is dumb, bc why date someone you aren't going to spend the rest of your life with when you can save yourself the heartbreak & just wait for someone who's right for you, but also it is very hard to actually heed my own advice. it's one thing to understand that, and quite another to actually live it & not feel like i'm somehow missing out on the fundamental experience of college/university life. is it me? am i missing something? i mean yeah i go full ghost mode when i'm stressed about school but haha surely that's not what's keeping me from this? ohhh wait it 100% is. but at the same time...school is my priority. i'm trying not to fail my classes, and right now that is taking every last scrap of effort i have. but it figures that the one gamble i make ends up with me losing. seems it always works that way.
