EVENT: 001 - Forged Fires TAGGED: @azrakaran
This was not her usual scene. In fact, this was perhaps the most normal and unnatural thing she’d ever attended, what with the juxtaposition of known alleged mobsters and normal people here just for the spectacle and the fun in addition to the reporters and politicians hoping for something bad to happen. Nora wasn’t sure where she fit, and the half-emptied pint of beer in her hand kept her from thinking on it too hard. In her mind, she looked as out of place as she felt--jeans, a t-shirt, a beanie--absent were the usual scrubs or sweats either work or her apartment saw. It was admittedly a nice change, even if the nature of the attendees kept her somewhat on edge. Someone here knew something, but now was probably not the time to dwell on such things. Drink your beer, drop your shoulders, try not to clench your jaw.
And so she ambled around the crowded pier, one hand in her pocket and the other trying not to clench the cup so tightly that it broke. An hour into the event, she spotted a familiar face, though judging by the way she looked right through Nora, the recognition did not go both ways. She could hardly blame her; people looked different outside where you expect to see them. Carefully, she slid next to the girl and lightly brushed her fingertips against her forearm, hoping to alert her to her presence without actually causing her to startle.
“Hi,” she said with an easy smile, “Are you having fun?” Instantly, Nora began to visually search the other for signs of bruises or cuts or other injuries, but she kept her gaze quick, light--people could always tell when someone was studying them in her experience.
