So… I had an epiphany regarding a Papyrus au
So I don’t know if it’s been done in the game’s… 10 year lifespan, so correct me if it has, but an au where Papyrus actually managed to kill the human, and the guilty aftermath. I’m working on writing it up, but here’s a little drabble based on it! (Not angst but a bit of set up)
“Halt, Human! You shall go no further!” Papyrus yelled across the snow at the child in front of him; “My brother and I have devised some traps for you to get stuck in!”
He seemed to laugh slightly, his teeth chattering together each time they opened and closed. Sans stood perfectly still beside him, his eyesockets almost closed in a serene, yet stuck in a smile. The human stood there, the stick in their pocket poking from their back pocket of their shorts.
The taller skeleton cleared his throat, “I think this first trap, you will find… rather electric!” He chuckled, confident yet goofy as he had been when the human first met him.
The human stepped forward, and Papyrus stuttered a moment: “D-Don’t go yet, human! This is our electricity maze, where touching the walls will give you a harsh zap of electricity! So, try if you dare!” He laughed again with a ‘Nyeh-Heh-Heh!’
Before the human could take another step, however, Sans opened his eyes, and sighed. “Don’t forget the conductor orb, Pap. The human’s gotta hold it.”
“Oh, right!” He hurried through the maze, careful not to touch the walls, and ran over to the human. Softly passing the orb, his red mitten in the human’s hand, the small, metal sphere rolled around in their palm. “Now, off you go!”
Biting their lip, the human stepped into the threshold of the maze, desperately trying not to hit the walls they could not see. Unfortunately, their second step made them stumble, and a horrid shock rippled through their arm, coursing through their nerves, rendering their entire side stiff as though they had been tased. They fell to the floor, and planted themselves face-first in the cold sludge of snow.
Papyrus laughed at first, but quickly realised that the human was hurt, and turned to Sans.
“Sans! Please deactivate the maze! Clearly the human cannot take this puzzle!” He seemed a bit panicked, which left Sans confused.
“I thought it was a trap to capture the human?” He asked, considering the human was incapacitated in the snow.
“I know, but… it seems really unfair to let them lose so easily! It’s not fair, I demand a rematch!” The skeleton stamped his foot, picking the human up and leaning them on a nearby tree.
Humans had determination… so why were they so unwilling, even if they were seemingly so enthusiastic?
