@forgottencamelots / LYDIA & DICK
All things said and done, it was kind of nice to have someone who could reach his back more readily than he could. He remembered a few occasions where he nearly dislocated his shoulder try to reach between the blades to tend to something, and no amount of twisting in front of a mirror made it easier. There were upsides to working alone, in complete secrecy. Avoiding the judgemental looks he was getting right now was definitely one of them. But she was still there, putting up with all his bullshit, and that meant even more. There was a hiss that he stifled, before the sound could make it through his lips, as she pressed gauze to the wound. His skin stung against the rubbing alcohol, but he wouldn’t let himself flinch. The instinct had been trained out of him long ago. Eyes watched her reflection in the glass and he wondered if she was enjoying it a little too much.
"There'll be plenty more before this is over."

The wolf itched beneath his skin.
But it was him too, the contradiction lay in feeling like it was this other thing, when it was so completely a part of himself. This animal that had emerged from within him, without warning, without explanation, felt as natural to him as breathing. The ripple of fur beneath his skin, the invisible teeth and claws that he could feel below the surface, the breath of the wolf in time with his own tightly wound and haggard inhales. He kept thinking of the wolf as something apart from him, but feeling betrayed his thoughts. He knew, deep down, just how connected he was to it.
Even if he didn’t know why.
Moving through the streets, familiar in their haunting shadows, he was hyper vigilant. As if everyone could see what he really was better than he could. Everything smelled different, looked different, so surely he must too. Was he a walking neon sign? He kept walking, as confidently as he could, hitching up the backpack that he had slung over one shoulder. But the twitch of his ears, the prickling of a small sound from out of sight, had him stopped in his tracks, turning to squint for the culprit. Someone was following him. Anger flashed in his dark eyes.
“Whoever you are, you’re busted.”

@forgottencamelots liked for a starter from morwenna chynoweth
While Morwenna had not dreaded the idea of acting as governess for her cousin’s child, she had no altogether been excited by the prospect either. How foolish she had been, for she cannot remember a time in life where she had ever been as happy as this. There were drawbacks, of course. Her cousin’s husband, George Warleggan, was not the most agreeable of men and seemed determined to introduce her to many equally (if not more so) disagreeable young men from the area, but Trenwith was a grand house, surrounded by beautiful countryside and beaches, and Geoffrey Charles was as amiable a child as a governess could hope for. All of that, of course, and Drake Carne, whom Morwenna has so desperately tried to keep from her mind in all ways but passing thoughts when they meet, but to no avail. Slowly but surely, she has resigned herself to the knowledge that she thinks of him most of the time, and while a feeling deep inside her tells her it will end in tears one way or another, she cannot help the smile and the tune she hums that afternoon as she thinks of him, while arranging flowers she and Geoffrey Charles had picked on their walk home. It is like this that her cousin Elizabeth finds her, and Morwenna does not notice the other woman immediately, instead continuing to hum the merry folk tune that Drake had taught her and her student that day.
@forgottencamelots asked: “ just don’t make a scene. ” (from dawn!) » black widow movie quotes.
“said the woman dressed in a big pigeon costume.“ a dove, he is aware. but he is making a comment and being snarky as he rolls his eyes. “I’m a robin, my purpose is to make a scene. draw fire. come on.“ that’s why batman has them. jason ignores how that makes him feel, and how often he will think bruce doesn’t really care about him. “but that means i can go with you, right? fuck yeah.“
What did you know of the man? That he would sing to his child, sleeping in his arms? Or kiss the tear from my cheek, when I was of a mood? Did you know the father? The husband? He was not a perfect man. But he was mine. He was MINE! HE WAS MINE! HE WAS MINE!

❛ why think about boys when you could be thinking about REALLY important issues? ❜ (from beatrix!)
memes ( always accepting) feat. @forgottencamelots
She closed the book she had been studying - Celtic Deities as if she did not already know everything that was to know about the gods that answered after dark - and turned to the other student instead. Tilting her head slightly to the side as she looked at Beatrix, wondering what had caused such an outburst. "Don't tell me you are lovesick, hun", Marian shook her head, "I was not talking about boys, and neither were you. But still, I agree with you completely. There are more important things to discuss, 'specially in a place like this"
Marian crossed her arms, leaning back in the chair she was occupying to align her face with the sun. She closed her eyes as the warm rays caressed her skin, even filtered through the window they still carried a warmth, a promise of spring. Her time was about to come and she needed to know who would stand by her side when it all came down to magic and madness.
Beatrix? Unlikely. But not impossible.
"Tell me, how does it feel, your mom now being headmistress and all? You must have missed her dearly. Or is there some other mysterious, yet important, topic you came here to discuss, Beatrix? I am not one for wasting time, you know that. I am one for action, for spells used now rather than kept waiting"
