There are two core truths in critical role.

The first is that if you create a character or see yourself as unromancable Laura Bailey will take that as a challenge and romance you. Examples: Percy, Fjord(Travis) and Laudna

The second is that if you create a character that can fly you must romance Marisha Rays's character. Examples: Vax, Yasha and Imogen.

Hello!

Just a small note to all those critters out there (minor spoilers relating to in game relationships)

I know some of you may be disappointed with what happend in the most recent episode with Fjord and Jester

Can i just share something with you all platonic relationships as fucking awesome not every relationship needs to be romantic or sexual.

As someone who values platonic relationships more than any other relationship I think Caleb and Jester and Beau and Jester relationship is amazing, yes it started as romantic from Caleb and Beau's side and yeah i understand why people want it to be romantic. But hear me out some of my best friends are people who i would read stories with or run to to talk about what or who I love. Sharing something you love with a friend is one the greatest feelings ever seeing them experience something you love for the first time and watching them fall in love with like you did. I don’t love them romantically, that doesn't mean I love them any less.

I often think that the English word for love doesn't often cover everything we want it to mean for example in Greek you have 7 different ways to love

Eros: this is your type of romantic passionate sexual love between life partners in the early stages of a serious relationship. if you need an example think Vax and Keyleth before they told the rest of VM

Ludus: this is an infatuation or flirtatious type of love more casual with little responsibility. Think of Beau with Keg or Reni

Pragma: This is Love that is built on commitment and is long term think married for 30 plus years. My first thought for this is Allura and Kima there may have been a break in their relationship but they became each others halfs while still being their own person.

Agápe: this is universal Love. A love for strangers, showing compassion to those less fortunate being empathic towards humanity. Caduceus displays this love the most I think.

Philautia: Love for yourself. Caleb and Yasha definitely need more of this one. But I think Pike represents this one the best she loves herself and this comes across in the confidence she has in her abilities.

Storge: this is a strong protective kinship kind of love. Like the love Caleb and Beau share yeah they argue like siblings but when shit gets serious they come together and protect eachother

Philia: this is an authentic friendship some described it as knowing eachother so well you know the other persons soul. You want the best for the other person and will do everything in you power to help that happen. I saw parts of this in Molly and Yasha's relationship in the beginning of the campaign 2 or a better example is Percy and Keyleth. Each one wanted the best for the other and they also counseled eachother on their world views and worked together on projects to help eachother

Now often relationships involve not just one type of love and will be combined with eachother to make each relationship unique so based on this technically you could say all your ships are happening its just not all romantic. And you guys could probably tell me more kinds of love this is not an exhaustive list feel free to add to this list if you guys know of others.

I view the word love like that with many different meanings not just one because thats boring, and that story has been told enough already. I’m not saying this it invalidate anyone’s ships but everyone’s focus on the sexual/ romantic side of characters relationships is creating devisions in a fandom I love dearly and I feel like if people one ☝️ respected other people views and the decisions of the cast there would be so much less drama which would be nice and two ✌️Love is never just romantic it is such a wonderful and complex emotion that it should never have just one meaning so any good healthy relationship between characters is an extension of the casts love for each other and we should be happy with that, and the complexity in those relationships in testimony to the cast amazing acting skills.
