Much like John Henry, it’s pretty stylistically consistent, and I love it. It’s all a nice sorta funky vibe to it, save for Mrs. Train.

Snail Shell is a classic, fits nicely on John Henry as well as this. The effect on the vocals gets a bit old though.

Ondine is interesting, good organs, awesome chorus.

She Was A Hotel Detective is probably my favorite of any of the Hotel Detective songs. Those fake violins, perfection.

Mrs. Train is weird in the context of this EP, but it’s welcome anyways. Catchy melody with a hell of a great progression through the whole song, not only with the tempo changing but also the other sound that are constantly added. Probably my favorite from the release.

I think the remixes get a lot of flack, which is a shame, because at the very least Snail Dust is fantastic. God that organ, its such a cool sound. A lot less noisy than the original, somehow.

Overall this is almost definitely my favorite EP from the band, save for maybe They’ll Need A Crane.
