#Repost @formecklenburg with @get_repost ・・・ Opponents of the 1/4 of a cent ($0.0025) sales and use tax increase like to argue that the only people behind this initiative to address inequities in Charlotte-Mecklenburg's parks, arts, and education are wealthy arts organizations and elected officials. This couldn’t be further from the truth. This campaign has always been a grassroots effort, and the majority of the 400 names on our list are community members from all walks of life across our county: across neighborhoods, incomes, ethnicities, occupations, ages, and organizations. From the Sierra Club to the Black Political Caucus, from activist poets to local DJs, from CMS employees to volunteer parks advocates, we all understand that this small individual sacrifice—just $0.05 on every $20 on taxable, non-necessity goods purchased—will have an outsized community impact on our most vulnerable populations. Keep an eye out for our names in the Charlotte Observer. We’re proud to stand behind this transformational investment in our schools, parks, and cultural programming. We hope you’ll join us. — Endorsees of the Mecklenburg Sales and Use Tax Referendum #CLT #ForMeck https://www.instagram.com/p/B4bBvbkB1-I/?igshid=qwauiw45ph05
