Three years isn’t long at all in the grand scheme of things, but yet somehow we’ve managed to have quite the adventure already ~ from LDR and visa woes to planning a wedding 4,000 miles apart to cancer to babies to expat life ~ we definitely didn’t get the memo on how to have a quiet life.
And I wouldn’t change a thing (ok, except maybe the cancer thing. That kind of sucked.)
Happy second anniversary, @fasterphil! There is no one else on this planet that would put up with and laugh off my shenanigans quite like you. Thank you for being the calm in the storm. For waiting for me on the other side of my epic, anxiety-induced meltdowns. For not initiating divorce proceedings when you had to teach me how to drive in England. For sleeping upright in chairs next to my bedside in hospitals. For always thinking of me. For being exactly what I knew a man and a husband and a father could be even if that meant outsourcing to England for it.
Here’s to many, many more years of wedded adventures! 🎉🍾
Our first relaxing evening all week where the Swede wasn't working or preparing for his classes and i wasn't running around with kladdventskalendern and going to Christmas parties. His parents came over and took our empty boxes to storage, and had supper with us. Then we made our couch(I will never get over the fact that even IKEAs couches/arm chairs come in tiny parts you have to assemble), and then relaxed in front of the tv with drinks, snacks and each other.
The Swede went on a retreat thing on the archipelago with a group of friends a few min ago. He gets back tomorrow night. I know we have been apart longer - like 4 months usually, but this feels as hard. I don't know what it is about finally closing the distance and being together all the time but it feels just as horrible to part even for this short period. I don't know if its like flashbacks to before the move or what, but I'm sitting here and tearing up. And i think of the couples who will go months without seeing each other and it doesn't knock any sense into me.
