Ugh, Janna I literally have tortured myself each morning by waking up, watching Mileven TikTok edits to Out of the Woods, crying into my pillow, and rolling out of bed. I miss them so much and feel your sadness about them so here I am to brighten your day!
Here are my Mileven moments from each season:
s1 - HANDS DOWN, the woods scene. I've talked to death about this moment and could analyze it to death. This is my favorite Mileven scene of all time because it highlights all of El's best qualities and what Mike sees in her and how El brings out a completely different side of Mike (insecure, bullied, vulnerable) that just doesn't come out with literally anyone else. El gently pushing Mike, Mike shyly opening up, and El accepting him and expressing empathy that she understands is truly touching and makes me want to well up. I think I watched this scene like 10000X times when I was first exposed to Mileven.
s2 - THIS IS SO HARD because their love was so epic in s2 and established their psychic connection in s2!! But I'm going to with the moment their eyes meet at the Byers house - holy fucking shit what an ICONIC scene - El destroying the Demogorgon and strolling in like a complete badass in her punk ensemble, then Mike meeting her eyes and absolutely MELTING and Mike blinking in disbelief and stepping forward and smiling (I used to watch this scene every night before I went to bed, okay?)
s3 - "Blank makes you crazy" - again, I think for someone has stubborn as Mike to apologize and apologize WELL because he genuinely cares about his relationship with El and he wants them to proceed forward in a healthy manner is so heartwarming. This cemented for me that even though they were still very young and in the nascent stages of love, they were Serious. And acting more maturely than adults in their first relationship in a lot of ways. (Also, I honestly didn't expect Mike to fully be In Love with El in this season so when I saw it I was kicking my feet up and giggling)
s4 - Angsty but honestly the fight scene in El's room. Again, I think it just showed for being as young as they were, How Serious they were to be having a fight about their personal insecurities seeping into the relationship and they were both struggling to communicate genuinely because they loved each other too much. I also loved that even though Mike was upset, he still tried to bring Eggos to her and relate to her about the bullying.
s5 - UGH the Duffers hate them and they had two scenes. I want to keep this happy (because I'm sorry the Purple Rain/Void scene is just one of the most beautiful scenes even though I fucking hate the context Millie and Finn SOLD me with their performances and that hug/KISS) so I am going to say the hug when they ran up to each other in the field - I wish we had more context about the last time they saw each other before this but I love thinking that they saw each other the morning/night or even a couple days ago but the thing about this hug is like they've been going through their routine and day and trainings almost only to see each other at the end of it all. The transformation in their expressions and SPRINTING is EVERYTHING to me. And El's face touching Mike's cheek - PRECIOUS. I love them here (in a lot of ways this is similar to reasons I love the s2 reunion scene)
