looking into the new F5 series that the RFEDA has announced, not the first F5 level series but definitely coming from a very well known federation. Some takeaways:
Pretty lowkey max budget, sets a good standard for future F5’s
I can tell this is a super well thought out plan because of the already established grant they’ll give to their spanish karting champion
I’m curious how the recruitment of Junior talent will affect their senior talent, seniors are such a good category i wouldn’t want them to be overlooked
Theyre being listed as support series for F4 and Eurocup-3 which i like, it means - to me - that they’re likely going to be recruiting teams from those championships and gives a good launch pad for building team relationships with the drivers
100% think Campos/Red Bull will get in early with this
Susie needs to be boots on the ground in this championship
Objectively the most interesting part, the chassis
ADESS, founded by an F1 engineer but hasn’t designed an open wheel car in a while, it’s a interesting foray into the world of single seaters for them and is different than any other of the F5 level series
As a concept i see the appeal of a easier streamlined approach to the feeder series ladder especially for Spain but it remains to be seen how useful a change from karts this will actually be
ill be curious to see the specs of the car ADESS develops
And the safety regs that EPIC Championship cooks up
Also, with a larger country doing an F5 i’ll be curious to see if/what the FIA may say about it all 👀👀
