This place-- dream? He’s still not entirely sure-- is full of all sorts of fun things and people that Pinky’s never seen before. It’s all so exciting and novel, but despite everything this “Radio Island” has to offer, there’s something important that it’s very clearly missing, too. Pinky’s looked everywhere in his big, funny new house and in all the nooks and crannies and refrigerators he can find, and there’s only one conclusion he’s been able to reach; this city has a distinct lack of mice. ...a distinct lack of one specific mouse, that is. Pinky hopes that Brain’s just in the middle of winning the world’s longest game of hide-and-seek, because it’s getting just a teensy bit terrible, having no idea where his friend could be.
But there is one other mouse here, at least, and that’s more than none! They’re not quite the person Pinky’s looking for, but he scampers excitedly towards them anyway, climbing up a chair-leg and over a heap of patched-up purple fabric until he can stand on the brim of the hat that his fellow mouse and their snakey friend have apparently deemed the premier hang-out spot for Tens Under Ten (Inches).
The two other animals seem to be in the middle of a talk, as the snake’s mouth is wide open, but when it doesn’t seem about to close any time soon, Pinky decides that he’s allowed to butt in if Mx. Snake insists on hogging the whole conversation like that.
“Hello!” he says, waving enthusiastically and bouncing on the hat’s brim. “Is this a closed club, or is anyone allowed to join if they promise to pay all their dues on time?”
