Saturday Scouting :: Fort Benton MT

Saturdays, or weekends in general I should say, always seem to be fast and furious. We are busy running errands, trying to catch up from the week, and getting ready for the next week to start. The last couple weekends have been filled with photo sessions, which we thoroughly enjoyed, and a never ending to do list. Today was different though, and just the type of day we needed, a family day.

We decided to take a drive a little ways outside of Great Falls to a small town called Fort Benton. We have a couple getting married here this summer, so we thought it would be fun to do a little exploring. Today was different than most photography days, because we got to bring along our little sidekick. Our daughter will be two at the end of the month and in our opinion is the most beautiful, amazing, and energetic little girl. She always makes each day wonderful and spreads joy wherever she goes. 

Our first stop in Fort Benton was the main bridge in the middle of “downtown”. The bridge is big, beautiful, and stretches across the river that flows along town. She loved looking at the “birdies”, racing back and forth, and trudging through the remaining snow piles. As you can imagine, it made it extremely hard to get a photo of her not moving and one with her looking at the camera. She is little miss independent these days and all she wants to do is explore. Today was great practice, trying to capture a moving target, with an agenda of their own : ) 

We explored some other areas around Fort Benton and eventually ended up in a unique coffee shop to wrap up our day and have lunch. We ate at the Wake Cup Coffee House, and the food was excellent! We laughed, relaxed, and didn't have any other worries or stresses today. It was one of those days you wish would never end or freeze time. One that fills your cup and heart for the days that aren’t so perfect and seem long and stressful. It was a day we were able to spend time enjoying our daughter and realize how blessed we are to have one another. 

I am so thankful we were able to slow down today. Being busy and stressed in life is so overrated! I am guilty of letting it consume me more than I’d like to admit, and working on enjoying the little things each day. If you’re feeling drained, spend time with the ones you love most. It seems like yesterday our daughter was born, and now she will be two in the next few weeks. Life goes by fast, take time to enjoy the little things. Slow down, get outside, go visit Fort Benton, population 100. It makes life better. It makes you realize how grateful you are to have people in your life you love more than words.
