Ocean’s Waves |

Waves hungrily lapped against the beach’s shore, consuming both sand and shells and washing them away towards the dark pits of the ocean’s stomach. Sayaka hugged her knees to her chest, pressing her chin against the bony skin and sighed wistfully as she stared at the water. It was calming, and it made her forget about the woes of travelling to a new land and missing a portion of her life. Yet, it was satisfying to know that she was so close. Any closer and she’d be able to touch it-
Suddenly, the wind picked up and the girl felt as her hat lifted off her head and magically raised in the air. Sayaka glanced up and watched as it seemingly teased her before dancing away. Quickly she scrambled to her feet, sand finding its way between her toes, as she stumbled forward to keep her balance. Sayaka kept her gaze on her floppy-brimmed hat as it soared along the wind’s current and flew away from her. “Get back here!” she cried.
The bluenette grimaced as she outstretched her hand in an attempt to catch the flimsy accessory. But in her bout of trying to catch her hat, her body crashed against someone and she stumbled backwards from the shock of her own collission. As she stepped backwards, her feet lost their balance on the unsteady sand and her bum crashed ungracefully onto the ground.
Looking up, her cheeks reddened. “Ah! I’m so sorry! I just- my hat- you see- and I wasn’t paying attention.
