THE ENCAMPMENT AT FORT MASSAC - Michael and the Boys pose in front of the walls of the reconstructed 1802 Fort Massac during the 2014 Encampment at Fort Massac State Park in Metropolis, Illinois. Forts have been built, and rebuilt, on these Ohio River grounds by Spanish, French, British, and Americans forces as far back as 1540. An "encampment" (a period re-enactment celebration) is held in the park each fall and is attended by thousands.
