Good thing someone told me to come pick up those cupcakes before I left, instead of taking them for themselves. Thank you, Rachel.
Sorry, I had to drop things off quickly before I left this morning. I'm glad you got them.
fortysecondstjames replied to your post:Just how many shirts of mine do you have? There's a noticeable dent in my wardrobe...
Fair enough… how many DON’T you have?
A cursory inspection of your closet will give you that answer, my love.
The Burrito Summit
Tagging → Jesse St. James, Sugar Motta, Finn Hudson, Quinn Fabray, Noah Puckerman Time Frame → Thursday Evening, May 22, 2014 Location → El Campesino General Notes → Just these fools being cute/doing the most. (St. Fabmotta is the cute and Pinn is the most.)
Finn
didn't realize that a simple message would end up with a whole bunch of them going out, but it didn't matter. He was getting a burrito, and since Jesse was footing the bill, he was going to get chicken
and
steak. Throwing on a hoodie, he met up with the rest of the group by Our Lady's front gate. "Hey, guys."
Puck "About time," Puck said as Finn finally appeared, lifting the arm he had slung over Quinn's shoulder to punch Hudson in the shoulder. "You almost made us miss another bus."
Quinn "I mean, we could always walk. It'd probably take a lot less time that waiting on the bus." Quinn wrinkled her nose. "As hot as it is, we'd probably encounter a few of Marion's unwashed citizens."
Finn rubbed his shoulder where Puck had punched him. He spoke up, tired of the group just standing around. "I don't care if we walk, take the bus, or row ourselves to shore. Can we just start making our way over there?"
Jesse pulled out a chair for Sugar at El Campesino. He hadn't been fully prepared for their dinner date to become a group outing, but the company could have been worse. "I didn't realize burritos were going to be so popular today," he said, rounding the table to take a seat across from her, "I mean, it's Thursday. But there's not much else to get into tonight, I guess."
Sugar sat her bag on the back of her chair as she settled in her seat, crossing her legs beneath the table and leaning on the surface of it. She didn't mind the slight change in their plans, glad to spend time with their mutual friends. "I think food is just good for rousing people. You could have probably offered any meal at all. Besides, any reason to get off campus is a good one."
Quinn snorted with laughter as she grabbed Puck's hand and tugged him through the main gate and down the sidewalk, heading towards town. "Alright, Teddy. You'll get your food. El Campesino isn't too far a walk."
Puck swung his and Quinn's joined hands playfully as they all walked towards town. "Does anyone else have the image of the Sheriff in a canoe rowing down Main Street?"
Jesse nodded in agreement, then laughed, "Except I didn't offer a meal. You cashed in on my promise and it became it's own thing." Inspecting the various sauces on the table, he shrugged and looked at her again. "It's cool. It'll be a good time, seeing people away from school. It's getting to a point where every day counts, being so close to the end of the semester."
Quinn gave Puck a strange look when they reached the crosswalk. "Wait..what? Sheriff? What the hell are you talking about?"
Puck "You have your kinky nicknames for Hudson and I have mine."
Sugar "Next time, I'll ask for the things I'm owed in private. But I don't mind sharing you." She idly reached over the table to claim Jesse's fingers and fiddle with the digits, tapping the pads of hers against his. "We've only got a few weeks left here, so we should make the most of it. Everyone will be running off in their different directions soon so I'm just fine with seeing the people I'll actually miss as much as I can."
Quinn furrowed her brow. "Finn is Sheriff? What kind of homoerotic shenanigans do you two get into while I'm away? Are you the cowboy or the policeman?"
Puck laughed and smacked a kiss into her neck, muttering, "I'm what that toy you hide in your purse under all the cookies does. Buzzzzzzzzzzzzz."
Quinn scowled and slipped her hand from his grasp, moving quickly to pinch the softest, squishiest part of his lower back before skipping down the street towards the restaurant sign.
Puck collapsed against Finn immediately. "Oww! OWW!!!"
Finn pushed Puck off him immediately, "Get off! You're heavy as fuck, dude!"
Puck fell to the ground, defeated.
Quinn turned around when she heard the thud and shook her head. "Will you get up? There are burritos waiting for us. I will leave your dramatic ass in the street for bottomless tortilla chips."
Finn stepped over Puck and with his long strides, he was able to catch up with Quinn. "I know her pinches are painful but c'mon, Puck. There are burritos. Free ones."
Puck pushed himself up from the ground and dusted himself off. Then, after not so subtly adjusting himself in his tight jeans, he put his chin up and strode after the others, ignoring them haughtily.
Jesse smiled, nodding again. "That's the best thing to do. It's weird, and a relief, that we'll be out of here soon." With a glance over her shoulder, he caught sight of familiar faces coming through the door of the restaurant. "There they are."
Sugar hummed her agreement, glancing up to see their friends entering. She waved a hand, alerting them to she and Jesse's table.
Quinn pushed open the front door, thankful for the cool air that greeted them, smiling when she spotted Jesse and Sugar. "Hello lovebirds!" Quinn settled into an empty seat with a grateful sigh. "That was an epic and dramatic journey with these two."
Sugar flashed a smile at Quinn, eyebrows raising at her two companions. "It's a short walk from school. How did they manage to cause trouble?"
Finn sat down, removing his hoodie. "Hey, I didn't do anything. Its Puck who was flailing around on the ground."
Jesse raised an eyebrow, his mouth lifting into a smirk. "Flailing on the ground?"
Puck took his place between Quinn and Finn and shook his head. "I don't flail. I've never flailed... flawed... whatever. Shut up." He kicked Finn's seat, then Jesse's and then pouted. "Where's my menu?"
Quinn shook her head, but eventually returned Sugar's smile. "It was all rather ridiculous, but thankfully I'm here and it smells delicious. So stuffing that one full of food so he'll stop pouting sounds great."
Sugar laughed softly, passing out the menus sitting beneath the one she was absently browsing. "If food stops the pouting, I'm going to suggest filling up." She smirked when she handed Finn his menu, adding, "And there are certain people at this table who I know will cause a scene over something to eat."
Finn took the menu, although he didn't need it. He had been at El Campesino so many times, they'd probably name a dish after him. Looking up, he saw Sugar smirking at him. "I mean, I'm hungry... but I wouldn't cause a scene, really.."
Puck glared at Quinn until he got his menu and then he glared at the menu, only pausing to snort at Finn saying he wouldn't cause a scene. "What if they said they were out of guac. Then what would you do?"
Quinn shook off Puck's glare, blowing him a kiss before browsing the menu. "If there wasn't guacamole, he'd pout so hard. We already know this. The pair of you are both pouters."
Puck "I don't pout," Puck said indignantly with a jut of his lip.
Finn shrugged. "It'd suck, but I'd just asked for extra queso. Or extra pico. Or extra meat. Or maybe all three."
Sugar had already picked out what she wanted, and let her menu settle on the table. "You can't argue against pouting while pouting. That doesn't work."
Quinn laughed. "Sugar Pop, it's no use. He's so damn stubborn. And of course the other one would get extras. Such a Teddy thing to do." Their server appeared and Quinn greeted the man with a smile, especially since he arrived with chips and salsa. After rattling off the order for her burrito, she busied herself with the chips with a happy hum.
Puck "I'm not pouting! Quinn!" he whined, dropping his head on his girlfriend's shoulder and raising his menu up so no one could see his face.
Finn smiled wide, glad that their waiter had arrived. "Uh, can I can a chicken and steak burrito, but instead of using just a regular tortilla, can you use a quesadilla? And I'd love extra guacamole. Thanks."
Sugar shook her head at Puck, easing into another laugh. After waiting for Jesse to finish his order, she passed her menu back to their server, ordering a chicken burrito for herself and nachos to share. "A burrito wrapped in a quesadilla? Is that a thing?"
Puck While the uncertain waiter tried to assure Sugar that it maybe could be a thing(?), Puck dropped his menu and interjected, "Well, I want the same thing. With the quesadilla and everything. Except for the chicken. Give me extra steak instead."
Jesse ordered his burrito with extra guacamole and handed over his menu. "Quesadilla-wrapped burritos? Innovative. Going all out tonight, I see."
Quinn sighed because their server already seemed overwhelmed, but he nodded at the changes, scribbling them down before walking away. "Apparently this is a thing and I'm shaking my head. Who the hell thinks to put a burrito in a quesadilla? It sounds impossible to eat without being messy."
Puck "I like being messy when I eat," Puck said, making eyes at his girlfriend.
Finn took a sip of his coke, "I don't know who came up with it, but they are a genius. Plus if it ain't messy, I don't want to eat it."
Sugar crunched into a tortilla chip, chewing and swallowing the bite before she spoke. "I'm not surprised that you're up on all the latest and greatest discoveries in the food world. Is there a magazine for that? A 'Fat Kid Weekly' perhaps?"
Quinn side-eyed Puck and considered pinching him but saved her energy for chips instead. She chuckled at Sugar, hiding her giggles in a napkin. "Fat Kid Weekly sounds about right. All that food porn he reblogs."
Finn reached over to grab some chips. "Yes, that's it. And they send free samples."
Jesse reached for a chip, dunking it in salsa before taking a bite. "Do you write reviews for them, too?" He ate the rest of the chip, then held a hand out, pretending to write on his palm. "Tried the fish tacos from Vinny's food truck today. I thought they were too salty at first bite, but I had to eat three more to make sure. Three and a half out of five stars."
Sugar giggled, taking a sip of her water to keep herself from choking. Eventually, she buried her laughter in Jesse's shoulder, unable to immediately stop her show of amusement.
Puck snorted from where he was slouched in his seat, Jesse's assessment both hilarious and accurate in his eyes.
Quinn "So rude. But so damn accurate." Quinn scowled at Finn's large hands grabbing at the chips and she resisted the urge to slap them away. "You and your bear paws need to save some for the rest of us."
Finn rolled his eyes at Jesse and continued to chomp on the chips and salsa. "Why? These are bottomless. That's the best thing about going to a restaurant. The bowl gets empty, and our lovely waiter fills it back up again."
Puck "That dude's not coming back over here anytime soon. Not with you looking like you'd bite off his hand for some chunky salsa," Puck said, reaching under the table to absently draw circles on Quinn's thigh. "I'm fucking starving, though. I know we just ordered and you guys know that I'm not one to usually complain, but oh my God, where's my burrito?"
Quinn nodded. "Exactly. You, with your extravagant burrito behemoth requests." She wiggled under Puck's hands and laughed at his typical diva reaction. "Just eat the chips, precious. Seriously. Before BJ and the Bear over there takes out the entire bowl. You ordered a special, so I'd imagine it's going to take a minute for them to construct the monstrosity."
Sugar finally calmed her giggles. "Just because they're bottomless, that doesn't mean you've got to try to eat every chip they've got in the building. Save room for the monstrosity you ordered." Puck's complaints amused her but she bit back her laughter this time. "If you're not one to complain, I don't think I know you at all. Are you even Puck?"
Puck "No one even understands that reference," he teased Quinn, following her with his fingers when she tried to wiggle around. He laughed at Sugar, too. "Who knows. Maybe Puck never existed at all."
Finn pouted, pulling his hand back from the chips basket. But his pout didn't last long as he saw the waiter come by with food, only to bypass their table and serve the group behind them.
Jesse noticed the fall of the other boy's face and shook his head with a laugh. "Dude, it's been like five minutes. Eat the chips. No one is judging you," he pushed the bowl closer to Finn's side of the table, "Except everyone. Just own it."
Quinn slapped playfully at Puck's hand. "It was a damn good reference. Look it up and be cultured." Before Finn could steal the bowl, Quinn reached for it, snatching it closer to her end and sliding the salsa over as well. "I haven't eaten much today and he has that big ass burritodilla to look forward to. I need the sustenance more." Satisfied with her reasoning, she happily dug into her chips.
Finn tried to mend the emptiness in his stomach with more chips but the bowl was even further out of reach. Rolling his eyes, he leaned over Puckand grabbed a handful anyway. "Its quesarito, Quinn. Get it right. Plus I haven't eaten much past breakfast and my pre lunch snack so I'm starving."
Puck watched Finn's hand reach across him with wide eyes, full of shock at the action. He took food that was in front of Quinn. He reached over into the bowl she claimed as her own, put his hands in it and took the chips. Puck's mouth fell open and he pushed his chair back, not wanting to get between Quinn's reaction and Finn's face.
Quinn watched Finn's ginormous bear paw reach into the bowl, ignoring his paltry excuses of second lunch or whatever it was he was whining about. With a scowl she leaned over and smacked the chips out of his hand, shifting back to her seat before they hit the floor. Scooting further away, she barely registered Finn's reaction, placing the bowl in her lap and pushing her chair further against the table.
Finn Shocked doesn't even cover how he felt as the chips were smacked out of his hands. He glanced down at the chips that had fallen, sad that he couldn't eat them. He looked up, and seeing their waiter walk past again, he called out to him. "Hey, sorry. Can we get another bowl of chips for the table? One isn't enough."
Quinn was far too happy, enjoying her chips but she nodded at Finn's request to the waiter. "Good job, Finnegan. I'll let you live...for now. But seriously, where the hell is our food?"
Jesse tore his attention away from playing with Sugar's fingers to the table to their right that had just gotten their food despite arriving afterwards. "It was probably the quesadilla-wrapped burritos. No one knows what to make of that. It's too progressive for this town." He frowned, "But seriously, they could have at least brought more chips to our table first."
Puck "Is it really complicated though?" asked Puck after he moved back to the table now that it was supposedly safe. He hung an arm across the back of Quinn's chair and twirled the ends of her hair absently. "They could really just stick extra cheese anywhere and I'd be good. They could bring the cheese separate on a plate if they wanted, honestly. I don't need them back there sweating over my food like it's brain surgery."
Finn looked over his shoulder, watching the waiter bypass them again to serve another table. "Seriously. I mean, if they need help, I could go back there and tell them how it’s made."
Quinn leaned into Puck while crunching through a handful of chips. "Ugh. I'm about to get up and just get a slice from down the street. This is just ridiculous." Thankfully, the heavens opened up and their waiter arrived with two large trays and Quinn bounced happily. "Oh dear god. Finally."
Sugar stole a chip from Quinn's bowl, offering a kiss on the cheek in return and dusting off her fingers just as their waiter arrived. The man seemed proud as he sat down Finn and Puck's orders and apologized for the wait while claiming that the mechanics of quesadilla-wrapped burritos were a new concept for the cooks. "Of course that was the holdup," she sighed, "I hope those things are actually worth the ridiculous wait."
Puck shook his head as he watched Sugar's power play with Quinn's chips; making a mockery of everything. He kissed Quinn's other cheek because he could and because he owed her one for the bouncing and then he ignored everything was said afterwards when his beautiful monstrosity of a meal was placed in front of him.
Finn moved the chips, salsa, cutlery, or anything else that was placed in front of him so that he could make room for the large platter the culinary masterpiece was resting on. Grabbing the quesarito with both hands, he didn't even bother replying to Sugar because his mouth was full of deliciousness.
Quinn accepted Sugar's kiss and simply rolled her eyes at Puck, though she couldn't hide the faint blush when she pulled away. While her burritos weren't the size of a small country like the behemoths Puck and Finn ordered, they were sizable and she took that as a challenge. Chips on the table, Quinn grabbed a napkin, placing it in her lap as she took a deep breath, already hype to tackle the chicken burrito. It might've been the hunger talking, but the first bite was heavenly.
Sugar was amused when she noticed how quiet everyone became when their food arrived, their focus switching to the plates placed in front of them. But she couldn't even bring herself to comment on the absence of conversation, too busy using her knife and fork to cut down her burrito into chunks that she could eat with a utensil.
Jesse smiled over at the display of affection thrown Quinn's way by her boyfriend and his girlfriend, a quiet laugh pushing out before he noticed the waiter returning to the table. He was last to receive his plate, silently passing judgment on each presentation of food while making a point to not look too impatient. The overstuffed burrito was about as big as the plate, and he couldn't wait to tear into it, bypassing the silverware to pick up the steak-filled dish and take a huge bite.
Puck settled into eating his burrito and the comfortable silence that came with an entire table satisfied with their food. Without a thought, he was leaning into Quinn's side and nodding every time he met anyone's eyes over their plate.
Finn scooped up the pieces of meat that had fallen out of the burrito with his chips and enjoyed the taste. He was the first to break the silence, his mouth half full of delicious quesarito goodness. "Can someone please pass the tabasco?"
Quinn wrinkled her nose at Finn's table manners but pushed the bottle towards him. She was barely halfway through her burrito and decided that was good enough for now. "Yeah, I think I'm just going to box up the rest." Leaning back, she stretched her legs and settled for randomly poking Puck's side.
Puck "You're not committed to the cause," he said after coming back down from his poke flinch. He shook the half of a behemoth he still had secure with both hands and looked at her with pity. "I'm gonna order another one to box up."
Finn nodded his thanks to Quinn as he dashed a couple splashes of hot sauce on his burrito. His eyes lit up as Puck suggested taking another one to go. "Shit, man. I'm gonna do that to. And another order of chips. Like these are really good."
Quinn shrugged. "I'm absolutely committed. I just enjoy taking my time. But you two...I'm not even sure where all this food goes anymore. You need to see help, the pair of you."
Finn shrugged, "We're growing people. Plus when the food's free..." He gave Jesse a wink before turning to flash Puck a smirk. ".. You feel hungrier, am I right, man?"
Puck "Mmmmhntrnhtnsfntrh," Puck agreed as he took a bite.
