Does anyone else ever have those fleeting moments of intense longing for pre social media fanboards and forums during any average day of being on the internet
Where everything was in neat little enclosures for the most part and if you couldn't easily be found by accident, trolls were incredibly niche and localised and not the omnipresent curse you can find both on a fan account on twitter and simultaneously in the comments on videos you're watching about fixing your tv settings
Everyone who was around on a forumboard was around on purpose, whatever that purpose was. The rates of negative encounters with chance strangers was drastically smaller due to the very disconnected nature of the internet back then
I mean there was still drama, of course, where people; is drama, but
Unlike social media you didn't exist with everyone in the world at once in one place. You only knew what was going on in the spaces you existed in.
You posted your little comments in your little subforums on your fanboard with your little signature graphic (probably made by me) and continued weeks long conversations with xo~Sasuke~ox about anime songs and teenage angst in peace...
Cause I do idk
