Fossil Cove Brewing Hosts a Tap-Take-Over of Arkansas Beers to benefit the Arkansas Brewers Guild.
The tap at Fossil Cove was a brotherhood of Arkansas beer last week. The Arkansas Brewers Guild and Fossil Cove Brewery hosted a tap-take-over featuring beers from nearly every brewery in the state Thursday night. The brewery was packed with beer makers and lovers from all over, drinking an unprecedented line-up of Arkansas beer.

Fossil Cove Brewing Co. on Poplar Ave. in Fayetteville has a West Coast theme, and so do some of the beers. They were pouring a winter Saison that was amber in color and clean in finish. If you can catch The Whizzle in summer, give that one a try too. Their smooth and nutty La Brea Brown is a popular local brown ale named after Los Angeles' famous tar pits. A beauty.
The pouring started at four, and went until the kegs were emptied at 10. Ozark Beer Company joined the impressive list of breweries on tap at Fossil Cove including Springdale's Core Brewery and Saddlebock, Fayetteville's Apple Blossom Brewing and West Mountain Brewing, Little Rock's Stone's Throw, Moody Brews, and Diamond Bear Brewing.
The breweries donated the beer and Fossil Cove's bartenders served pints and samplers, with the money benefiting the Arkansas Brewers Guild. Ozark Beer Company poured our Belgian Golden.
The guild, which is modeled on similar brewer's interest groups around the country, promotes the interests of the craft brewers in Arkansas. It's "like a lobbying group for the brewers," says Ben Mills of Fossil Cove. Ben stands up behind his bar and welcomes the crowd, thanking and listing the breweries involved.
The group is working now with brewers ahead of the coming legislative session. In this rapidly changing time for beer brewers and lovers, an ally like the Arkansas Brewers Guild is key to asserting the voice of our craft community, especially to the lawmakers that legislate our businesses.
