Khyros watched the other horses below and saw their dull colors, and decided that he wanted them to have beautiful colors. He swept himself down to the earth and discovered a white mare named Veneranda. He went into her bed in the night and made love to her, and in the morning took her to his home where she would live with him. Veneranda and Khyros had many children, but most notable are his four daughters. Daughter Rowan was painted orange and white with blazing blue eyes. Daughter Filly, who glittered like silver and snow together, and had eyes like coal. Daughter Heather, who shined brighter than fire in every way. Daughter Zenovia was the most unique of all the daughters, bearing black stripes all over a white body. Rowan and Filly are regarded as the most beautiful of Khyros’ daughters, and many a mortal equine met a fools’ end trying to impress them. Heather is the equine Goddess of war, and often appears to have a flaming mane and tail.
The Mares of Khyros became well known when a group of stallions began to cry for their affection. Khyros thought his daughters were old enough to take husbands, but Veneranda told her daughters to use their cunning and skills to avoid the suitors. Rowan led the stallions into the hills, where they fell and twisted their ankles. Filly cast down a rock slide, which killed many of them. Heather set the hills they were in on fire, and when they fled from the hills to the plains, Zenovia set them into the tall grass, where they became lost. The four daughters are often used to characterize young fillies’ attitudes.
Dinomom wishes you all a happy Sunday!
I decided to also draw a Fiaclan dinomom! Settled on Olive green for her third color.
