"So Earth is lost to us?"
"No. There is always hope."
"...can you see her?"
"Yes."
"How is she?"
"...she searches for you."

Friendly Reminder
that Jane Foster isn’t “Lady Thor.”
Back in 2014, when Marvel first announced that they were going to have a new Thor and that she would be female, their announcement had this in it:
The writer of Jane’s Thor run preemptively came out and said in the announcement of the new female Thor that she wasn’t “Lady Thor.” Or “Thorita.” Or “She-Thor.” Or any other form of insert-feminized-version-of-Thor’s-name here. She is just THOR. So please, let’s not call her Lady Thor.
Now, what to call her instead?
Taika Waititi has suggested “Mighty Thor,” which is the name of the majority of Jane’s Thor run in comics. Aside from that, the first 8 issues of Jane’s Thor run were just called “Thor.” (And it was only at the end of those 8 issues that we found out the new Thor was Jane Foster.) Then the comic was relaunched as “The Mighty Thor” and it stayed that way until the end of Jane’s tenure as Thor.
BUT, “The Mighty Thor” is also a title that Thor Odinson has had ever since his first appearance in “Journey Into Mystery” in 1962. It was part of the logo of his titular comic after that in 1966- a logo that had been used even before that on the covers of Journey Into Mystery once Thor proved popular. There was even a Thor run called “The Mighty Thor” in 2011; Jane’s Mighty Thor run is volume 2 of that title. All this stuff means “Mighty Thor” is a title used by both Thors, so it doesn’t help us differentiate between Thors too much and I’m not really a fan of using for Jane as Thor.
So what can we call Jane!Thor to distinguish her from Thor Odinson? I’ve seen people suggest Dr Thor, which works pretty well since all the versions of Jane that have been Thor have a doctorate! I’ve occasionally seen people use FosThor for comics Jane for years. Personally, I’ve been tagging her as Thor Goddess of Thunder since before we knew who the new Thor was. These are all good options for things to call Jane!Thor!
But whatever we wind up collectively calling Jane as Thor, whether it’s Mighty Thor or something else that’s more unique to her, hopefully we can stop calling her Lady Thor.
(Reposting this since it didn’t make it into the the tags the first time.)
