“ the spot of your death is now a lovely gift shop ”
“I cannot believe that, even past death, the demon of capitalism continues to take advantage of my innocence.”
He lies prone, face up, across the pavement, his slight frame only a slight nuisance to any who might need to step around him but, as he lies right before the front floor of the gift shop in question, he remains a nuisance nonetheless. Kael’s ‘death’ had been a hushed affair, firmly announced and a drama made of it but in the hurried tones of someone who simply wants to get a task out of the way; I want everybody to know that I’m dying but I don’t want them to think too much of it. As for the tragic cause of death? It was mere inconvenience. He had declared himself a dying man and laid down on the pavement, all because he had grown tired of traipsing around in poor weather. For the sake of his pride, Kael tries to ignore that the concrete is wet and that his jeans are growing slowly damper.
“Tell me”, he says, weakly, reaching a wary, shaking hand out toward Light, “Please tell me it’s not tacky in there.”
in which kael pretends he’s dying bc he’s THAT annoying / @foudrai
