“Ruby,” Weiss breathes. “You made it.”

The girl in the doorway released her bags and weapon, the items clagging to the floor as her face shifted from surprise to relief to joyful sorrow. Her short hair bounces as she dashes to the other side of the room, slamming into Weiss and enveloping the other girl in a hug.

Weiss shuts her as she holds Ruby, warmth blooming in her chest and spreading to her skin. Weiss smells of home, feels like peace against her, and suddenly Ruby is so so tired. She sags, her knees nearly buckling but she doesn't release her grip, can't bear to be apart from her girl any longer.

“Princess,” Ruby whispers and her throat is tight. “I- how’re you here?”

Weiss runs her hand down the back of ruby's neck, squeezes lightly. “Jaune and Nora found me, the comms have been down so we couldn't…get in contact with you.”

“I looked for you,” Ruby says softly, digs her face into Weiss's neck. “For days. Pulled rocks and rubble up to find you.”

“Oh petal,” Weiss whispers, squeezing her eyes shut. “I’m so sorry…but look. You found me.”

Weiss loosens her grip on Ruby so that she can lean forward, and kiss her.
