“I hate him,” Michael blurted out. The words tasted bitter on his tongue.

Jeremy looked up at him with a sympathetic look, his eyes softening. “Well, at least you’re not alone in that thought,” Jeremy said. But it didn’t cheer him up.

Michael hated him.

He hated him so much, he didn’t know it was possible to hate another human being as much as he did.

He wanted to scream, to lash out, to make William feel even a fraction of the pain he felt every day.
