What are your headcanons about Fumus' relation to Nadine? Do you think that he treated her like all the other angels, or that she always stood out a bit for being stubborn? Also, how do you place him finding her in the timeline? Do you think that she ever got rescued after that? Sorry for bothering, I just really love your blog and your theories.. Have a nice day!

I apologize that this has been sitting in my inbox so long without an answer.  The truth is, I've had to think about it for a while, as I have not gotten many opportunities to talk with or rp with Nadine/Chlomaki rpers...thus what I have may not be as deep as some of my other characterization rants and I deeply apologize.  

This is just going to go off of my own personal interpretation of their relationship from the things I have seen in canon.

Do you think that he treated her like all the other angels, or that she always stood out a bit for being stubborn?

I feel as if Nadine more than likely stuck out to him.  From the perspective of a predatory sadist, stubborn and fiery people are seen as challenges to break, someone that they see as prizes when they finally crush them because of how long it takes to break their psyche. Nadine was more than likely a target for Fumus because of that.  When you look at Fumus' pattern of interests i.e. Taffy, Satanick, Tsurigigozen ect. He seems to like making powerful people cower before him in general.  It gives sadistic people a sense of triumph and a prize to be had.  

The fact that Chlomaki seemed to have been hiding from Fumus, trying to live a normal life while still being under the eyes of god I feel is something he'd secretly been laughing at.  Fumus is god, and unless Chlomaki goes to another world (maybe not then since Fumus can undoubtedly world hop) she may or may not be safe from him.  I feel in the back of Chlomaki's mind she feels it's all a matter of time before they cross paths again, because you can't outrun your god and being a deserter certainly doesn't earn her any points with Fumus' strict attitude and controlling nature.

Also, how do you place him finding her in the timeline?

Since you can literally interpret the Fumus and Chlomaki update in either order, it's really a hard call.  I tend to think it's in the past, because of the scene where she looks at her butchered hair being transitioned to she and Fungas talking about it.  It gives me past tense vibes.

Do you think that she ever got rescued after that?

I'm inclined to think that either she did or she escaped on her own.  She seemed to have gotten away from Fumus before as Nadine, so more than likely throughout her course of abuse she was always looking for options and made herself intuitive.

Fumus is a man of possession and obsession, regarding people as his playthings and personal interests.  He refers to Nadine as his pet as well.  I'm not sure if it's a condescending remark or meant to parallel Kcalb's treatment of Ater and Arbus.  I have thought about this as well, since they are a pair of cat demons under a devil and Elwine and Nadine are a pair of cat angels under a god.  I may be looking too far into that, but I feel it's somehow intentional.

You're not bothering me at all.  I just wanted to make sure to give you something good that I've put a lot of thought into.  I'm just sorry for taking literal months to answer this.

Has Fumus ever done self harm because of past memories, or because of losing someone dear to them?

He'd rather take it out on other people via aggression.  People who act like Fumus, I can only assume from personal experience and psychological studies are miserable and want others to be just as miserable as they are.  They like throwing authority and power around, making others feel like nothing to give them definition in life.  Abusers seek power over others to compensate for their own hurt, struggles and pain, for their insecurities and all that they lack.  This is more an observation than anything canon or headcanon. If Fumus were to brood on past memories (which actually sort of makes sense given the wars Pitch World's been in, and how the demons feel about Fumus) then he more than likely has a lot of unresolved feelings he leaves baking like a melting pot inside of him as a result of those things.  I feel like being as old as he is already gives him that sense of nihilism as well.  After living so long, you grow complacent and numb, and with a personality like Fumus' seeing people bleed helps him not feel so dead inside.  It's not right or healthy by any means but it may be how he deals with things.

What was the turning point for Fumus? Or were they always like this from the get go?

Well, I've always thought Fumus was either a very unsocialized, lonely child or something happened to him to make him cold and cruel.  People aren't just born that way and I think a fair amount tend not to think about that in regards o his character or people who are sadistic and cruel in general.  Fumus is dark, broody and generally unfunny because unlike Satanick, Sal, Idate, ect. he doesn't have that sense of charismatic charm that they all do.  Fumus is stone cold and cruel to the core, an actual serious bad buy.  And I am not saying this like the others aren't, they are all horrible in their own way but they all have a sense of comic relief or something that lightens their cruelty and Fumus so far has not besides being the butt of Satanick's hard top joke.  I would assume there was a reason or plausible explanation that he became the twisted man he is.  I would assume a turning point would be in childhood or later on in adolensce.  The war that happened that burned Pitch World to the ground still isn't explained so it may have very well happened then but only canon can determine that.

Was Fumus always like this when only a few years old? Or did something happen during Fumus's early years to make Fumus change?

Oh man this is a deeper query than it seems.  So…it’s a literal can of worms.  I’ll talk about canon Fumus and myinterpretation separately, because I don’t want people to get confused who readthis.  

When it comes to canon Fumus, it could literally beeither.  It depends on yourinterpretation and what you think he signifies. If you go into what he represents (smoke) and take it into biblicalaccount (something some of DSP’s deities are based on, and I am inclined tothink Satanick and Fumus may be as well if you take into account Satan (moreprecisely Sataniel) is another word for Lucifer and they are regarded as thesame being in some religions but that is another rant for another time) smoke inthe bible is associated with wrath, something Fumus seems to be synonymouswith.  He uses his abusive ways as meansof corporal punishment for his angels.  

If you take into account Satanick clearly represents lust,then you could safely say Fumus is wrath. Upon doing further research there is a little known smoke youkai calledEnenra that he may also be based off of but there is little about it other thanit can take the form of a human and appears to people who are pure ofheart.  This is only a minor theory andit has little basis other than Fumus is quite…odd for a god, has a devil as abrother and is associated with smoke.

Taking these things into consideration, he might have justbeen born this way and has always been cruel and wrathful.  I doubt we’ll get any clarification on thisat all.  If we do it will be very, veryfar away from being revealed unless DSP decides to shock me.  

Now, if you take this into a psychological aspect (as I havein my other posts/theories about this because I believe people aren’t just bornevil, or what is marked a such), then I think he twisted into something cruel,cold and apathetic towards most things.

Fumus and Satanick are, at their core the same archetype –sadistic rapists who like abusing people. I know there was once the question of – which Pitch Brother is worse?  Most people would immediately jump to Fumus,and I know exactly why.

Fumus is stone cold, he hasn’t shown anything else besidesbeing a ruthless, domineering man, whereas Satanick has a charismatic attitudeand underlying depression that makes him seem more dimensional andrelatable.  By nature, most people haveempathy and when a character shows empathy or has empathetic aspects peoplefind themselves throwing sympathy at that character.

But, to be honest it makes Satanick just as bad because hehas a seemingly friendly and relatable exterior that can lure people in.  Remember, Satanick ensnares people with hischarm, its part of his seductive nature. It makes him predatory, and that is just as bad as someone who is stonecold.  It doesn’t matter what someone’snature is if they both fundamentally do the same thing. They are both equallydangerous in different ways.

As I have stated in my The Distortion of Fumus post, thereis a chain of abuse in Pitch World that is very noticeable.  Fumus abuses Satanick, then Satanick abusesIvlis.  Also, Fumus abuses Chlomaki, thenChlomaki goes on to do the same thing to Lobco but in a lighter sense.  It’s a theory and one I will stick by untildisproven on, but I think that more than likely Fumus has had this kind oftreatment as well.  The only stonewall Icome upon in this theory is whom?

I don’t know.  That’swhy this is a theory, but Fumus has several attributes of an abuse victimturned abuser himself, but that is in my other post so I won’t explain ithere.  That post was a whopping 1,000+words and this one so far is going on 700 so I don’t want to make it a monster.

Fumus is canonically a sadist, meaning he has sadisticpersonality disorder.

This disorder is characterized by cruel,aggressive, manipulative, and demeaning behavior directed towards others.Abusiveness and violence are common in the sadist's social relationships, because the sadist lacksconcern for people and derives pleasure from harming or humiliating others.

Tyrannical Sadist

I feel this makes most sense with Fumus’ broody, introvertedpersonality and the fact that he doesn’t care about anything outside of PitchWorld and Satanick.

There are no clear causes for someone to be sadistic, but it’shighly speculated childhood abuse will make you that way (and this has beenproven with Satanick, as he mimics Fumus’ behavior).

This is basically the core essence of his character, thepoint dsp tries to drive into your head with his art and description, but alsoI think he is more than likely a sociopath as well, because he has no empathyat all from what I have seen.  He canhurt people so freely without a thought in the world and is stone cold aboutit, things that are very well grounded in sociopathy.

No one knows what causes someone to be a sociopath either,and it’s also speculated it can happen from abuse.  I’ve also talked about this in my other postas well.  This is getting long it’sliterally at a thousand words.

But tl;dr has canon Fumus always been this way?  Man, we just do not know.  Lack of information or even hints prohibitsme from being definitive.

The way I headcanon my muse is that something happened tomake him that way as I am going off of my theories for the most part via rps.

I hope this long ass answer got my point across, although itprobably seems muddled as hell.  I triedanyhow.

In the rps where I’ve had Fumus actually be a parent he sorta just never cared what his kids did and let them do whatever so the answer is yes.

I’d imagine something fierce, strong and highly predatory.

Has Fumus cross dressed before?

I’m going to say probably not.  I mean that’s what he’s got Satanick for.  I’m pretty sure his thing is more seeing other people cross dress than doing it himself.
