As a completely transformative three year stint on Foundation ended I was full of gratitude and eager for more. It was designed as a one year course but I just wouldn’t go away. My tutor Colin had advised me to go on to degree saying “if you come back here you’ll end up in the staff room” - (which of course turned out to be a prophecy). The rules then were more relaxed about repeating and also about final shows do some of the work here is from both the second and third of my years there. The first image is a rare record of the Soviet influenced plaster casts I had made of raised fists and symbols for socialism, they were framed in a found wooden door and I was showing some hard faced queer activists around the work including the inspirational and heroic Adrian - who had had a massive influence on my confidence and resilience. I was a tiny 9 stone elf of a child and still had my little horseshoe quiff. The work shown then included the meat crucifixions and the charcoal shroud- which were cathartic responses to queer bashing and religious homophobia. #foundationart #foundationshow #finalshow #exhibition #queerart #queerartist #againsthomophobia #oldwork #archive (at Liverpool) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTkH949snD-/?utm_medium=tumblr
