my unpopular opinion is probably going to earn me some strongly worded asks from the b99 community, but... i don't like gina's behaviour a lot of the time and how she is received by other characters on the show. when holt said he hadn't gone to her dance show, her behaviour was ott to the point of unbelievably childish and yet it painted her in a positive light compared to holt and terry who catered to her tantrums. and i love her but... she's often unfairly harsh to people with no comeuppance.

Srsly, I am 100% with you on this one. Like, I love her and I adore her relationship with Jake and her loyalty for Captain Holt is amazing. But there are so many times when Gina is just straight up mean and insults other characters and gets away with harsh comments. Like, that one Asexual joke she made in one episode. Like, I still like her but that was just so unnecessary.
I know that Gina, deep down, likes Amy. Like in the end of the ‘Beach House’ episode she takes care of her and makes sure she drinks water. But that still doesn’t excuse her behaviour. I mean, in the first season I even wondered if they were friends…in ‘The Mole’ when Amy meets Gina at the bar, even Amy is surprised that she texted her, because the last text she got from her was like idk 2009, and that text wasn’t even meant for Amy (?) I’d assume that friends text each other more… This is something that had always been in the back of my head.
And in 3x03 when she said to her: ‘Ames, i wanna say you look great…for you.’ And like, maybe I am too sensitive and maybe that’s an okay-ish thing to say but idk it’s just not doin it for me and I also don’t laugh at jokes like that because they are not creative or something, you know what I mean?
And yes, she can be really childish and immature. Jake is too, but his immaturity is so different and its the thing that makes me love him, whereas with Gina it can make me roll my eyes.
I also feel like they are trying to make it up for her with showing us that she is actually pretty clever and has more to offer than it seems. ( A little like April from Parks and Rec)
There are so many scenes where she is nice so I don’t want to talk her down. But I guess that there are just moments where she is really mean. And just because I like her it doesn’t mean that I won’t pick up on these moments and call her out for it.
Maybe we are supposed to see her grow as a person? In this weeks episode she helps Amy with a presentation or something so I just hope that we get some real bonding.
