Citroën 2CV Fourgonnette | 1971
In 1936 Citroën famously set out to design a car that would be able to ‘drive at speed over a plowed field without breaking a basket of eggs.’ The 2CV was the vehicle that was born - a car that produced only 9 horsepower but had better gas mileage than any hybrid on the road today. Because of demand and a 5-year waiting list, a second-hand 2CV was more expensive than a new one at the time. These Fourgonnette versions came about in the early 1950’s, replacing the back-half of the car with a corrugated steel enclosure. In yellow it harkens the iconic yellow postal delivery vehicle used in France for decades.
