If put into the PCD AU, Kyle would've been one of the few kids placed and then expelled from the PCD Training Academy. Originally placed in there by his dad and step-mom as a way to 'deal with him' (pretty much the same excuse some parents send kids to Military school for), while Kyle did get through his first semester without much of a problem - issues starting to arise once he was placed with a mentor. Now he had shown great promise fighting with a sword, and his test scores led him to be seen as exceptional in his cohort, though the only issue the faculty needed to address with him was the fact that a lot of his strongest skills were on the defensive instead of the offensive. That should be an easy and simple fix! Surely it was just because he wasn't fully confident in his skills yet! [Incorrect Buzzer Sounds]

This push to get him to properly fight more and more caused clashing between Kyle and his mentor, to the point where some "i dont want to do this!" arguments got so bad he would skip class for several days at a time until someone would find him and try to talk to him/coax him out of his room. The faculty really did try - oh boy, did they try - but Kyle seemed firm on his stance that he really didn't want to fight or hurt anyone or anything - no matter how many times they tried to remind him he was fighting for a good cause.

Eventually, it became too much and after being at the academy for a total of 2-3 years, Kyle was expelled for inappropriate behavior and noncompliance, much to his parents' upset. And while - years later - Kyle has had some interest sparked in being a part of PCD's medical team, he keeps talking himself out of it, especially after the way he was treated in the Academy.

Unfortunately, the PCD is so adored that Kyle frequently finds himself biting his tongue when it's brought up or congratulating through gritted teeth as he hears another person he knows is going to the academy. Realistically, if he wanted to go back, he's still a really solid candidate since he has a bit of training under his belt, but he's a silent contrarian who believes maybe there's another way to deal with the problem that doesn't have to be all violence and bloodshed...
