“can the blindfold come off now?” there was the slightest edge of impatience in fox’s voice, but he figured that could be excused. he was eager, he had been at every unsettling moment of his trip. a look inside a group that had not yet been studied. to be the first among them, to study them. it all gave him a rush he couldn’t ignore.

At this time of night, Fox tended to forget he wasn’t the only person in the world, like some lonesome hermit. The only one at the end, somehow it wasn’t hard to picture. He couldn’t help imagining it as he collected books and wandered the stacks, so maybe that was why he’d almost dropped the ones he was carrying upon walking into them, clutching them hard and to his chest as he stood up straighter. “Jesus, you could give a guy some warning, y’know?” He pointed out, brows furrowing as his other hand crossed over the other. “What are you doing here? Looking for me?”
