Posting more actively
Hey there, my foxy language learners! This is gonna be a bit of a long post, so hold on to your knickers 😅 (I know there isn’t a very large amount of people following my blog, nor many people who actively look to see if I’ve posted anything, but this is something I’ve wanted to post for the past couple of days).
My original intent
I originally created this blog with the intention of posting daily in my target languages and asking for native speakers/other learners of the language to correct my writing. I also intended on completing different language challenges, like Lovelybluepanda's 100 Days of Language challenge.
What happened
Shortly after creating this blog, I ended up moving back to the US from Norway and simply didn't have the time required to post, so I stuck to re-blogging things I found helpful. I then became mildly depressed. I lost a lot of my motivation to do things I used to love, like learn languages, cook, and clean. It was difficult to get up in the mornings, cook any food, focus at my job, and so on.
Recently, however, I took some time for myself this Christmas season and reflected on my life. I was lucky enough to celebrate in Germany with some very close friends of mine. They really helped me to once again see how much joy there was in learning a language and being with those you love. It also helped me to clearly see the source of my unhappiness. During my time in Germany, I thought quite a bit about this blog. Which brings me to my next point...
How I will continue
From here on, I want to continue to use this blog in my intended manner and to continue to re-blog any posts I find helpful with my target languages.
I want to use this blog as a very personal insight into my language learning journey, almost like a journal. This is something I personally have wanted to see in a langblr, but haven’t found. Many langblrs have a ton of vocab lists, or posts explaining grammar, or a great many other helpful types of posts, but they all seem to teach something (which is great). I want to create an experience of showing the process of learning a language rather than just creating/re-blogging various vocab lists or grammar explanations, if that makes sense. I want to post daily in my target language(s) and updates about my progress and hear about other’s progress. I want to have a community of others who are going through this language learning process and want to share their experiences as well.
Something else I will consider posting in the future are voice recordings that people can listen to and give feedback on my pronunciation and grammar.
To kick-off the revival of my blog, I will be reading Harry Potter in German (I now own the first three books in German), and posting about what I read.
