The first time Marcus saw this bean pole of a man try to boss around a hulking gladiator easily 5x his size.

Honestly I think these things just start compounding as time goes by. If it's not his cockiness, it's how intense he can look when he's concentrating (with his little eyebrows all scrunched up), how well he does with Marcus' kid siblings, or how incredibly expressive his eyes can be.

5. How do they consciously realize that they like the other character? Does it take them a while?

I don't feel that it takes too terribly long for Marcus to realize ey care about Miloš.

A short time after they meet Lucio orchestrates a battle royale in The Coliseum. This of course creates a scenario in which Miloš, as the surgeon for the coliseum, can be overwhelmed with life threatening injuries to treat.A decade of working for Valdemar has allowed for Marcus to pick up a strange assortment of skills. This does include being able to stitch up an open wound, so ey jump in to assist Miloš.

The spur of the moment decision surprises both of them, but it make Marcus realize ey care about Miloš and his struggles.

10. What scares them about entering a relationship?

Marcus had a lot of misgivings about relationships in general before Miloš, entering a relationship with him specifically had it's own list of associated fears though. Such as; Am I going to go looking for him at some point and Lucio has decided to kill him?

I'm not entirely sure. Maybe in the aftermath of something hurtful s/he might have said or done? Heron isn't typically given to the brood in solitude mode if given the option.

Heron likes raw banana, but Jinana doesn't. S/he hates the texture.

33. Under what circumstances would they feel jealous?

It would probably take targeted and intentional exclusion, over a decent period of time, in favor of someone Heron didn't approve of.

34. Under what circumstances would they feel protective?

Heron gets protective of Jinana when s/he starts to get overwhelmed. Lots of external stimuli at once can be too much for hir and he'll shoo people off and try to help hir get out of the area.

(All this is in relation to Heron and non-apprentice!Ell'iandyr, so some of this is speculation. The rp isn't quite this far yet.)

1. What, specifically, was the catalyst for their physical attraction (if applicable) to the other character? In other words, what in particular had them like “Oh, they’re…hot…”

Heron likely always found Ell'iandyr to be attractive behind that layer of anxiety. They didn't really speak in more than a professional way for quite some time though, as Heron isn't one to push his presence on someone who doesn't appear to want it.

3. By contrast, what was the moment that first made their ~heart~ Soft for the other person? Not necessarily a conscious realization of “I love this person,” but a moment that had them like “Oh…I adore them…”

When Heron asked about what kind of hobbies Ell'iandyr has and they lit up at the suggestion of reading. It might have been a platonic thing at the time, but that enthusiastic reaction will stick with Heron.

5. How do they consciously realize that they like the other character? Does it take them a while?

It probably does take Heron a little while, since he starts from a place of relative caution. He feels he got off on the wrong foot with Ell'iandyr and crossed a boundary inadvertently through initiating contact by kissing their hand.

I imagine the realization will truly come to him in a peaceful moment, maybe observing them taking care of their familiar, or other future dependents.

🎁 Ell arrives looking marginally less uncertain of the crowd than they did last year- some of these are familiar faces now. They find Jinana and offer over the silk- wrapped parcel with a little smile. "I was going to get you another journal, but then I found these..." The silk scarf conceals a small box containing a set of three artistically blown-glass bottles. It's difficult to tell if the shifting colors are an effect of the glass or their contents. "I've been assured of their... efficacy."

Jinana lifts a brow, peering at the bottles with hir magical sight. "My goodness," s/he says, chuckling. "These are bound to add a certain something to those special moments, hmmm?"

"What's this, darling?" Julian folds his long self into a seated position at the low table, doling out three mugs that (thankfully) contain a pear cider, rather than the cocktail of the moment.

Jinana gives him a sidelong look. "Oh, just a few bedroom dreams come true, through the wonders of magic." S/he laughs as the tips of his ears steadily begin to burn red. "Now thank Ell'iandyr for the thoughtful gift."

He coughs, the redness spreading to his cheeks. "Ahem. Er, yes, thank you, we'll be sure to, uhm... ohgodIcan'tdoit" He sinks to the surface of the table in a pile of blushes and defeat, while Jinana laughs, patting his back.

"He tried."

"Ah, we did get a little carried away with the drinks last night - it can be hard to keep up." Jinana smiles. "Heron and I ended up just bedding down here so we could keep an eye on you."

"Here" is a large-ish nest of cushions and pillows, set up in the workspace in the basement of the shop. Anjali is lying amid the pillows, legs in the air and spotted belly exposed, snoring.

"You just wouldn't budge from watching the light of the mana collector - it really is pretty, isn't it?" The mana collector resembles nothing so much as a large furnace of stone and iron, inlaid with complex sigils. Instead of a fire, however, it has a bank of large crystals, glowing with a myriad of colors. It draws ambient power from the natural currents, and stores additional power that Heron and Jinana pour into it regularly, keeping the many power-intensive magical functions of the shop running.

"Speaking of Heron, he's just gone out to get some fresh baked goods for breakfast - he'll be right back. In the meantime, you should probably drink this." Jinana unstoppers a small vial of pale greenish liquid, holding it out to Ell. The light fragrances of fresh mint and cucumber arise from it. "Heron's Miracle Hangover Cure in a vial. You fell asleep before we could get one into you last night."

Ell downs the potion - there isn't much to it, just a scant mouthful. Almost immediately, their color looks better.

The shop bell sounds from above - Heron, returning with breakfast, courtesy of Selasi. "Ah, there's the last piece to a better morning - well, that, and some hot tea. Let's go upstairs and meet up with Heron, shall we?" Jinana offers hir hand, assisting Ell'iandyr up from the nest of pillows.
